Introducing: Seiko's Presage Style60's Collection

Seiko pays homage to the 60's with the introduction of the new collection – Presage Style60's – in a variety of dial colours and functions.

The story of taking the Presage line towards a more sporty line aesthetic began in 2020 when Seiko released three new limited edition Presage watches in honour of the historical Crown Chronograph timepiece. This time around, Seiko takes the story to the next level with the release of the new Presage Style60's in a non-limited format again dedicated to the 1964 timepiece.

The vintage Crown Chronograph featured revolutionary functions like a stopwatch and also marked the beginning of Seiko's journey into manufacturing chronograph watches. So it makes perfect sense for the Japanese brand to draw inspiration (in its own way) from an iconic timepiece of its watchmaking history.

While many aspects of the Seiko Presage Style60's is inspired by the Crown Chronograph, Seiko has refrained itself from following the obvious path. It is one of the few watches in the world that despite being heavily inspired by and paying homage to a chronograph watch does not actually feature a chronograph function. Instead what Seiko offers us is a timepiece drenched in contemporary earth tone colours with a vintage design aesthetic of the 60s and a modern flair of sporty-chic.

The 2021 Seiko Presage Style60's is available in two major options; a simple time and date version and another with an open-heart dial with a 24-hour subdial. The 40mm stainless-steel case is manufactured slightly inward to ensure comfort on the wrist and is water resistant to 50 meters.

The collection is available in a multitude of dial colours like black, brown, ivory and earth tone colours of blue and green set to a design that is simple and easy to read. The dial houses the Crown Chronograph's signature box-shaped glass, faceted indexes and sharply shaped Dauphine-style hands. Some models (SSA425J1/ SSA426J1/ SRPG05J1/ SRPG07J1/ SRPG09J1) are treated with Seiko's Lumibrite which gives a slightly faded colour that enhances the vintage appeal of the watch. The two dial versions of the Presage Style60's includes a date window that wasn't offered in the original Crown Chronograph timepiece and a partial skeletonised sub-dial design at 9 o'clock with a 24-hour scale on top of it.

The Seiko Presage Style60's has a total of 7 variants with four of them powered by Seiko 4R35 movement and housing dials in white(SRPG03), black (SRPG09), blue SRPG05), and green (SRPG07). The remaining three variants are powered by Seiko's 4R39 movement and feature dials in white (SSA423), black (SSA425) and brown wirh rose gold treatment on the case (SSA426). Both the movements guarantee a power reserve of 41 hours.

Apart from being available in stainless-steel bracelet, the Seiko Presage style60's also comes for the first time in nylon straps. Prices starting at INR 43,717 approx., the watch will be available in India by July 2021. For more information, visit www.seiko.com.
