TAG Heuer introduces Monaco in never-seen-before purple colour

TAG Heuer has released an all-new iteration of its beloved Monaco watch. The timepiece comes in a dazzling purple hue and is limited to just 500 units

After introducing an all-black, titanium version of the Monaco Grand Prix Chronograph in May, TAG Heuer has now added a brand-new iteration to the legendary Monaco collection—first launched in 1969. The latest limited-edition timepiece is presented with a dial in rich purple colour that looks disarmingly charming and powered by the brand’s latest Calibre Heuer 02.

Sized at 39mm, the new TAG Heuer watch is housed in the collection’s signature square-shaped case, which has been crafted from stainless steel. Apart from its ergonomic design, the case features perfectly executed brushed and polished surfaces. There are also rectangular pushers located at 2 and 4 o’clock positions. Protected by a chamfered sapphire crystal, the watch is water-resistant up to 100m.

However, what steals the limelight here is the display of the new Monaco watch that comes in purple instead of the traditional blue colour of the original timepiece. The dial also features a gradient effect that adds to the allure of the watch. Meanwhile, the classic tri-compax layout consists of a 30-minute counter at 3, small seconds at 6, and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. Additionally, there is a date window positioned at 6, just below the small seconds. The new TAG Heuer watch also comprises rhodium-polished hour markers, a central chronograph hand, and a central two-hand timekeeping system, all of them generously coated with Super-LumiNova for optimal readability even in low light conditions.

As mentioned before, the new Monaco watch is equipped with the Calibre Heuer 02 that was released in 2019. The chronograph movement beats at the frequency of 28,800vph and is nothing short of a powerhouse as it offers a power reserve of up to an impressive 80 hours. On turning over the new TAG Heuer watch, we get acquainted with an exhibition caseback that reveals the Calibre Heuer 02, decorated with Côtes de Genève and a purple column wheel located at the top.

Limited to just 500 units, the TAG Heuer Monaco Purple Dial Limited Edition is fashioned with a black alligator strap with black stitching and purple lining.
