Audemars Piguet unveils new Royal Oak Offshores in 42mm

From chronographs to a limited edition diver's watch, it's raining new Royal Oak Offshore timepieces in a 42mm case size.

With the new 42mm Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph pieces with Méga Tapisserie and Petite Tapisserie patterns, and a new 42mm Royal Oak Offshore Diver, Audemars Piguet expands its acclaimed Royal Oak Offshore lineup. The Royal Oak Offshore collection has delivered interesting aesthetics and robust performance since 1993. Developed upon the Royal Oak, the Royal Oak Offshore was designed to be more powerful and sporty. And indeed the new timepieces are stylish and jaunty.

Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 42mm Méga Tapisserie

Playing with colours, Audemars Piguet has presented two new Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph models in 42mm equipped with the latest integrated flyback chronograph movement - the Calibre 4404 which delivers a power reserve of around 70 hours. The Méga Tapisserie dial in light blue or khaki hue and a matching interchangeable textured rubber strap come together to complete the Royal Oak Offshore in steel and titanium.

The movement comes equipped with a column wheel and flyback function. A patented zero resetting mechanism ensures that each one of the counter hands instantaneously resets to zero. The watch’s sapphire caseback reveals the movement’s column wheel. The Manufacture’s new interchangeable strap system makes changing straps easy with the interchangeability being directly integrated into the buckle and case’s studs.

The new Royal Oak Offshore with light blue dial colour comes in a 42mm stainless steel case while the khaki hue dial option is offered in a titanium case - both cases flaunting black rubber crown and push-pieces. The stainless steel model sporting the light blue dial with Méga Tapisserie pattern – first introduced in the Royal Oak Offshore collection in 2001 is enhanced by black counters and a black inner bezel. The titanium model on the other hand, featuring the khaki Méga Tapisserie dial, has a matching inner bezel, and has been enhanced with silver-toned counters with printed black hour-markers.

Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronograph 42mm Petite Tapisserie

Following in the footsteps of the original Royal Oak Selfwinding Chronograph, the three references in stainless steel, titanium or 18K pink gold offer contemporary looks and strong performance - powered by a new selfwinding integrated chronograph, Calibre 4404, equipped with a column wheel and flyback function.

Its glareproofed sapphire caseback let's you admire the inner workings ofthe Calibre 4404, including its column wheel. While Audemars Piguet released a previous model entirely crafted in titanium in 2004 (Ref. 25721TI), it is the first time that the manufacture has presented an evolution of the 1993 timepiece with a Petite Tapisserie pattern in 18K pink gold.

The stainless steel iteration features the iconic blue dial of the Royal Oak Offshore from 1993, a colour referred to as 'Night Blue, Cloud 50' in the manufacture’s archives. The pink gold reference houses the Night Blue, Cloud 50 dial with pink gold-toned counters, augmenting the case’s colour. Last but not least, the titanium version has been embellished with a light grey dial accentuated with black counters and a black inner bezel.

The metal bracelet can be replaced with a rubber strap for a sportier look as the new 42mm versions come with a second interchangeable rubber strap – blue for the stainless steel and pink gold versions; black for the titanium piece. The three models offer a water resistance of around 100 metres when worn on a rubber strap.

The Royal Oak Offshore Diver Limited Edition

Apart from the selfwinding chronographs mentioned above, Audemars Piguet has also launched is a new 42mm Royal Oak Offshore Diver limited to 300 pieces. This diver's limited edition timepiece is powered by the Manufacture’s latest selfwinding movement - the Calibre 4308 which promises a power reserve of around 60 hours.

Offering a second and instant-jump date indication, the Calibre 4308 is equipped with a patented setting mechanism that brings to the table stability and precision when adjusting the watch’s function. Its diving scale featured on the dial’s inner rotating ring is activated with a unidirectional click mechanism linked to the 10 o’clock crown.

The tool watch features an 18K white gold case that offers a water resistance of around 300 metres. The case has been enhanced with a black ceramic bezel and matching crowns at 3 and 10 o’clock. The sapphire and white gold caseback is engraved with 'Royal Oak Offshore Limited Edition of 300 Pieces' and the case offers a refined frame to the black Méga Tapisserie dial adorned with 18K white gold hour-markers and hands. The new Royal Oak Offshore Diver is offered on an interchangeable black rubber strap with 18K white gold pin buckle.

Earlier this year, the brand released the Royal Oak Offshore collection in a 43mm size with five models in different case materials and design. Out of the lot, we got a chance to view three of these. To read more on it, click here.
