Oris joins hands with Changjiang Conservation Foundation for a special Yangtze Jiangtun Limited Edition

Oris supports the Changjiang Conservation Foundation and the endangered Yangtze finless porpoise
To show support for the critically endangered Yangtze finless porpoise, a species of toothed whale endemic to the Yangtze River, the third longest river in the world and the longest in China, the brand has created a limited edition watch – Yangtze Jiangtun Limited Edition, in solidarity of the remaining 1,249 of the finless porpoise.

The Yangtze Jiangtun Limited Edition is built upon Aquis Date 43.50 mm and gives it a clear conservation narrative without diluting its identity as a serious dive watch. Developed in partnership with the Changjiang Conservation Foundation, the watch supports research and protection efforts for the Yangtze finless porpoise, one of the world’s most critically endangered aquatic mammals. The limited edition of 1,249 pieces directly references the estimated number of porpoises remaining in the wild.

The most distinctive element of the watch is the dial, executed in blue-green mother-of-pearl. The choice is conceptually sound: the material’s shifting reflections evoke the surface of the Yangtze River, while its inherent fragility contrasts with the robustness expected of a professional dive watch. Over this, there is a printed wave pattern inspired by the high-frequency ultrasonic clicks the porpoise uses for echolocation in the river’s turbid waters.

The case remains standard Aquis Date specification, with a 43.50 mm multi-piece stainless steel construction, a unidirectional rotating bezel fitted with a tungsten insert, and a screw-down crown with guards. At 30 bar of water resistance, it is fully aligned with modern dive watch requirements. The domed sapphire crystal, anti-reflective on the inside, and the application of Super-LumiNova on hands and indices ensure functional clarity.

On the case back, there is an engraving of the Yangtze finless porpoise alongside the individual limited-edition number. Inside is the Oris Calibre 733, based on the Sellita SW200-1, offering central seconds, date at 6 o'clock with instantaneous change, hacking seconds, and a 41-hour power reserve.
Paired with a stainless steel three-link bracelet and folding clasp, the watch feels purposeful on the wrist.
