Founded in 1737 by Swiss watchmaker Abraham Favre in Le Locle, Switzerland, Favre Leuba is popularly recognised as the second-oldest Swiss watchmaking company. It was also the first Swiss watch brand to be made available in India in 1865, with an office in Bombay and its products selling across British India. With a legacy spanning nearly three centuries, the brand is known for its pioneering spirit and technical innovation in tool and adventure watches. The brand gained recognition in the 20th century for creating timepieces, such as the Bivouac, the first mechanical wristwatch with an altimeter and barometer, and the Bathy, the first wristwatch with a mechanical depth gauge. The brand was resuscitated in 2024, led by CEO and Chairman Patrik Hoffmann, with the launch of 22 new watches across three lines: Chief, Deep Blue, and Sea Sky. Recently, the brand has launched its first tourbillon, Chief Tourbillon, a limited edition of 25 pieces.
