Arnold & Son's new Perpetual Moon 41.5 comes in platinum and red gold

Arnold & Son has unveiled two new versions of its famous Perpetual Moon 41.5 in a 28-piece limited edition platinum case and a rose gold variant.

At the start of the new year, Arnold & Son unveiled the 'Year of the Tiger' Perpetual Moon, an eight-piece limited edition moonphase decorated with a tiger motif. The brand's next launch came at the recently concluded Watches & Wonders, where Arnold & Son showcased their new Perpetual Moon 38 Eclipse 1, a 38mm, 18-piece limited edition moonphase watch for women, with 35 brilliant-cut diamonds, three pear-cut diamonds, and pink and blue sapphires. And in keeping the moonphase at the centre of its work, Arnold & Son has now launched a new Perpetual Moon 41.5 in two variants - a 28-piece watch with a platinum case (Ref 1GLBX.P01A.C200W) and a non-limited-edition watch with a red gold case (Ref 1GLBR.U01A.C200A).

The New Collection

The latest platinum 41.5mm model comes with a white mother-of-pearl moon in a midnight-blue sky. The dial features a unique Stellar Rays motif in blue for the red gold version, and salmon-pink for the platinum variant. Done with PVD treatment and then several layers of transparent lacquer, the desired look is achieved by irregular engraving, which means the width and depth of the rays are not symmetrical. Playing with light, the irregular rays and lacquer add depth to the dial and produce opposite areas of shadow and light. On this dial rests the perpetual moon window, which stretches from 9:30 till 2:30. Underneath it, on an aventurine dial, rests the moon motif with has seven stars. The large moon is hand painted and features Super-LumiNova; it is surrounded by the constellations also hand-painted and coated with Super-LumiNova.

The Perpetual Moon 41.5 Red Gold gets golden hands and hour markers while Perpetual Moon 41.5 Platinum comes with rhodium-plated hands and hour markers. The crowns on the watches are made using the same material as that of its case. The watch takes 29 days, 12 hours, 44 minutes, and 2.8 seconds to complete a lunar cycle.

Turning the watch reveals an exhibition caseback with sapphire crystal, an anti-reflecting coating, with a secondary indicator that allows the moonphase to be adjusted, and the engraving of the individual watch number for the platinum caseback. Powering the watch is the calibre A&S1512 manual winding movement with 90 hours of power reserve with two barrels and an oscillation frequency. Both the red gold variant and the platinum variant come with a water resistance of 30 metres and are completed on a blue alligator leather, hand-stitched strap with an 18karat red gold or 18karat white gold pin buckle system.
