Carl F. Bucherer teams up with Caran d’Ache for a new Manero Flyback

Swiss brands Carl F. Bucherer and Caran d’Ache join forces to present a new Manero Flyback Signature watch and a Caran d’Ache Signature rollerball pen.

Swiss watchmaker Carl F. Bucherer and manufacturing company of art materials and writing instruments Caran D’Ache have collaborated to “celebrate life’s signature moments” with the announcement of their Signature Moments project - a pairing of a special edition of the Carl F. Bucherer Manero Flyback Signature watch and a Caran d’Ache Signature rollerball pen.

The Manero Flyback reference is a limited edition of 188 pieces that has been clubbed with the Caran d’Ache pen to be presented in a travel pouch made from eco-friendly material, which is delivered in a crafted wooden box. The brands, which earlier in the year announced their plans to work together on special projects, unveiled the Signature Moments project on October 8.

Sascha Moeri, Carl F. Bucherer’s CEO, said that the product pairing focuses on signature moments – “those events that change the trajectory of our lives forever – but it does something more,” adding. “The Signature Moments release through our Manero Flyback Signature watch and the Caran d’Ache Signature writing instrument also invite people to dream. Very often, these important moments in our lives mark the realisation of long-held dreams. Carole Hubscher at Caran d’Ache and I love the idea of celebrating not only the attainment of a long-held aspiration but also the earlier times in a person’s life that inspired that goal.”

This sporty yet elegant timepiece comes equipped with a flyback function that allows the wearer to reset and restart the chronograph with a touch. The chronograph subdials, in graphite grey, render an interesting contrast to the dial in silver. One of its most striking features are theh our markers that recall some of the colours of the pencils that are such an important part of Caran d’Ache’s famous products.

Inside the 43mm stainless-steel case is the CFB 1970 automatic calibre that delivers a power reserve of 42 hours. The timepiece finds its sporty spirit in its striped beige and graphite grey NATO strap with red highlights. Carl F. Bucherer also treats the patrons with another striped NATO strap offered in two blue tones – nestled in the travelling pouch with the Caran d’Ache pen. Both straps are crafted from 100 per cent sustainable materials. The watch is water-resistant up to 30 metres.

Caran d’Ache Signature Writing Instrument

Following the design philosophy of the Manero Flyback, the Caran d’Ache Signature Writing Instrument offers a rhodium- and silver-coated body that has been embellished with ‘crown effect’ guillochage and decorated with hand-lacquered multicoloured triangles that complement the face of the watch.

Other design elements like the thin red line engraved in the clip also calls to attention the hands of the Manero Flyback Signature with the pen’s cap featuring a delicately lacquered graphite grey hexagonal isotype.

Carole Hubscher, Caran d’Ache’s CEO, said. “I’m the fourth generation of my family to be involved in the company’s management, and it is important to me to see that our legacy is carried forward. This Caran d’Ache Signature writing instrument has been created to invite future generations to dream big and to achieve their own signature moments. And, of course, it’s a perfect pairing with the watch. Every signature moment happens at a specific time that will stay in your memory forever – and you’ll note it precisely with your watch.”
