Panerai strengthens its Navy Seals collection with four new exclusive models

The release includes two automatic models, a GMT, and a flyback chronograph with a countdown function
Panerai’s new Capsule collection of four watches include - Submersible QuarantaQuattro Navy Seals PAM01518, Submersible QuarantaQuattro GMT Navy SEALs Carbotech PAM01513, Panerai Submersible Navy Seals Titanio PAM01669, and Panerai Submersible Chrono Navy Seals Titanio PAM01521. The watches take aesthetic and functional inspiration from the AOR1 pattern, which is used in the U.S. Navy uniform.

Since Guido Panerai began supplying the Italian Navy with pocket chronographs, luminous sights and other precision instruments in the early 20th century, the brand has been known as a specialist in military requirements. This has not gone unnoticed by the US elite Navy Seals, who have been working with Panerai for several years . As part of its Experience models - strictly limited edition watches whose buyers can go on spectacular trips with Panerai - Panerai has also visited the Navy Seals in Florida on several occasions.

All four models have the common design features, which include, the inscription "Navy Seals" on the dial at 6 o'clock, a small seconds subdial that represents a target, the official Navy Seals logo engraved on the case back, sand-colored Superluminova indexes, a rubber strap with a textile upper surface featuring the AOR1 camouflage pattern.

The PAM01518 is a 44 mm three-hand automatic made of satin-finished stainless steel with a gradient dial that gets darker and almost black from its anthracite center to the edge. The diving bezel can only be rotated in one direction, and the screwed case back, together with the well-known crown protection system with brackets, guarantees water resistance of 300 meters.

The Panerai-typical positioning of the small seconds at 9 o'clock is provided by the P.900 automatic caliber with a power reserve of three days, one of the thinnest automatic calibers in the Panerai portfolio, which is now also equipped with a stop-seconds function. The PAM01518 deliberately dispenses with a date display and instead relies on a clear, minimalist look that optimizes readability. The strap is fastened with a trapezoidal pin buckle made of satin-finished stainless steel.

For the GMT watch in the capsule collection, Panerai has chosen a 44 mm case made of Carbotech. This carbon fiber-based composite material, which Panerai has used many times, is 64% lighter than titanium and 80% lighter than steel, and offers superior strength and durability as well as improved corrosion protection. It is created by pressing layers of carbon fiber at a precise temperature and under high pressure with the polymer PEEK (polyetheretherketone), which significantly increases the strength and durability of the material.

The irregular matte black surface gives each watch an individual look that varies depending on the material cut. As with the PAM01518, the bezel can only be rotated in one direction and the dial gets darker from an anthracite center to the black edge.

The screwed case back made of titanium is black DLC-coated and houses the self-winding P.900/GMT caliber , which offers a power reserve of three days and the display of a second time zone. The GMT hand coated with Superluminova glows green in the dark. Specially developed for diving in deep waters, the Submersible QuarantaQuattro GMT is certified for water resistance up to 500 m.

Panerai Submersible Navy Seals Titanio PAM01669

The three-hand watch Submersible Navy Seals Titanio PAM01669, made of grade 5 titanium, is significantly larger than the first two models . Its diameter of 47 mm corresponds to that of the first wristwatch produced by Panerai and continues the corresponding tradition. Panerai has opted for the Carbotech described above for the unidirectional rotating bezel, and the dial again shows a gradient from anthracite to black.

The watch's movement, caliber P.9010 with automatic winding, is more sophisticated than the P.900, as it allows the hour hand to be adjusted independently in hourly increments while the minute hand continues to move at the same time. This is familiar from various GMT watches with in-house movements. Although the GMT function is missing here, the watch still offers a great advantage when traveling to another time zone and can adjust the time more easily without losing precision. The movement achieves its 3-day power reserve through two spring barrels, and it also has a date and a stop-seconds function.

The watch is water-resistant to 300 m and has a screwed-down case back and a titanium pin buckle.

Panerai Submersible Chrono Navy Seals Titanio PAM01521

In contrast to the first three – unlimited, boutique exclusive – models, the Submersible Chrono Navy Seals Titanio PAM01521 will only be produced 80 times and will not be launched until October. The 47 mm chronograph made of DLC-coated titanium is equipped with a unidirectional rotating bezel made of the same material, the inner disc of which is made of ceramic. The watch is powered by the P.9100/R caliber, an automatic movement with a three-day power reserve and flyback function. An additional countdown function makes it possible to measure the time until an event or expected point in time.

A vertical clutch and a column wheel ensure that the chronograph's central minute counter jumps forward one position every 60 seconds. The countdown can be set by pressing the pusher at 4 o'clock: the minute hand then jumps back one minute with each click until the desired time is reached. The chrono starts with the pusher at 10 o'clock. The functions also include stop seconds and second reset. The 72-hour power reserve is made possible by two spring barrels connected in series, which guarantee a consistent and stable energy supply. The screwed case back made of black DLC-coated titanium increases the watch's water resistance to 500 meters, making it ideal for demanding underwater use.

All 4 watches in the capsule collection come with an additional black accordion rubber strap. The PAM01518, PAM01669 and PAM01521 models also feature an interchangeable system for quickly changing straps.
