Czapek has added a new exclusive timepiece to its Antarctique collection, a limited edition of only 18 pieces. The highlight of the Antarctique Purple Storm lies in its beautiful hand-varnished dial, coloured in a vibrant shade of purple. Each dial has a texture different from the others.
The novelty is not the first Czapek of its kind. It all began about five years ago when Czapek's CEO Xavier de Roquemaurel visited the dial specialist Metalem in Le Locle and looked over the shoulder of a craftsman who was creating artfully hand-painted dials. De Roquemaurel knew collectors who were interested in space-inspired dials. Finally, in May 2020, the limited small series Antarctique Orion Nebula was created within the Antarctique line—Ten watches with hand-painted dials reminiscent of distant galaxies. The ten pieces were sold out in no time, so Czapek followed up with others such as the turquoise Abyss, the green Emerald Iceberg, and the Celestial.
With the Antarctique Purple Storm, Czapek is now bringing this lacquering technique to life for the first time in a strong violet. Even though the dial draws almost all the attention, it works so well with the pair of hands for hours and minutes, which are coated with luminous material, and the central second hand, that the time can always be read easily, even at night. The 40.5 mm wide and 10.6 mm high stainless steel case corresponds to the well-known Antarctique, complemented by the screw-down crown, the anti-reflective sapphire crystal and water resistance of 120 metres.
The same applies to the in-house developed and manufactured automatic calibre SXH5 with a 60-hour power reserve and a micro-rotor made of recycled platinum. The Antarctique Purple Storm is worn on the wrist with the (optically) integrated stainless steel link bracelet, which can be easily removed without tools thanks to the quick-change system, you can replace it with an alternative rubber strap. The timepiece is priced at INR 3,10,000 (approx.)
