Watches and Wonders 2026: Vacheron Constantin debuts the New Ultra-Thin Manufacture Calibre 2550

This calibre debuts in the Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin, a 39.5 mm watch made in 950 platinum
For Watches and Wonders 2026, Vacheron Constantin released five new timepieces:  Égérie Moon Phase Spring Blossom, Overseas Dual Time Cardinal Points, Historiques American 1921, Les Cabinotiers Minute Repeater Tourbillon Skeleton, and the Overseas Self-WindingUltra-Thin.

However, the highlight across the release is the Overseas Self-WindingUltra-Thin, debuting with a new ultra-thin self-winding movement, Calibre 2550. It offers an 80-hour power reserve while measuring just 2.4 mm thick. The movement is the result of seven years of development focused on improving efficiency and reducing size. It combines a micro-rotor, a suspended double barrel, and a compact gear train.

The bidirectional micro-rotor is integrated into the mainplate to save space. It is made of 950 platinum for better winding efficiency.

The suspended double barrel features two stacked barrels that provide an 80-hour power reserve. They are arranged vertically and share a single axis, helping reduce thickness while maintaining stable energy delivery.

The gear train is arranged on a single level with five wheels, two using ball bearings. This layout improves efficiency and durability within a limited space.

The movement features traditional finishing: circular graining on the mainplate, Geneva stripes on the bridges, and sunburst finishing on the wheels. The micro-rotor includes a polished compass-inspired design.

Overall, Calibre 2550 focuses on combining thinness with longer power reserve and stable performance in a compact structure.

This calibre debuts in the Overseas Self-Winding Ultra-Thin, a 39.5 mm watch made in 950 platinum, a limited edition of 255 individually numbered pieces.

The watch features a case, bracelet, and clasp made from 950 platinum, marking a first for the Overseas collection. The alloy includes 5% copper and gallium and undergoes thermal hardening to improve durability. This results in higher resistance to scratches and shocks compared to standard platinum 950.

The dial has a sunburst satin-finished salmon lacquer surface with a peripheral minute track. The combination of platinum and a salmon dial references historical models from the 1940s and more recent releases like the 2022 Traditionnelle perpetual calendar chronograph.

The case measures 39.5 mm in diameter and 7.35 mm in thickness, making it the thinnest Overseas model to date. It follows the 2016 ultra-thin reference 2000V in white gold and retains the collection’s interchangeable strap system, allowing tool-free changes between three strap options.
