Founded in 2004, the independent Swiss watch brand Greubel Forsey is founded on the principle of “Art of Invention”. In its relatively young journey, the brand has designed, patented, and developed 10 fundamental inventions in watchmaking. Following the same spirit, the brand now presents its newest creation - the QP Balancier, a 22-piece limited edition.
Greubel Forsey QP Balancier Limited EditionTopped with a domed synthetic sapphire crystal, the watch is housed in a 45.1 mm white gold case. The latest timepiece is a simpler version of the QP à Équation launched at SIHH 2015, and houses 12 functions and indications, including a bidirectional perpetual calendar, day, date, month, calendar year, leap year, day-and-night, function selector, 30° inclined Greubel Forsey balance wheel system, hours and minutes, small seconds, and power reserve, all set by a single crown. This has been done with a view to reduce the risk of damage by eliminating hidden pushers and various crown positions.
Greubel Forsey QP Balancier Limited EditionAll thanks to the brand’s patented Computer Mécanique or Mechanical Computer, a technical term for the ‘mechanical brain’ of the watch that allows for all the settings to be executed correctly without the danger of damage. It is programmed to be accurate till the year 2100; it can be adjusted in both directions and can be restarted instantly even after it is left unattended for months.
The functions of the watch are displayed on the multi-level gold dial. The hours and minutes are placed centrally; on the left side, you can see the high-speed inclined tourbillon; a small subdial at 6 shows the leap year; between 1 and 2 o’clock is the 72-hour retrograde power reserve indicator; at 2, the display can be set from from “HM” (hours and minutes) to “QP”, to show perpetual calendar indications; at 12 o’clock, there is 24-hours display and below it is the running seconds; while the day of the week, month, and date at shown via the bigger subdial posited between 4 and 5 o’clock.
Turning the watch reveals the year display and a 30° inclined balance wheel. The watch is water resistant up to 30 metres and is offered with a hand-sewn textured rubber strap with a white gold folding clasp, hand-engraved with the GF logo.
