Inside Ulysse Nardin's Red Room

With an expertise for nautical finesse, Ulysse Nardin has spread its mechanical engineering towards the erotica.

The Salon Internationale de l'Haute Horlogerie saw a lot of firsts from the world's thinnest timepiece to the world's first Triple Rattrapante

"The 2018 SIHH was privy to the Classic Voyeur collection; a very tasteful interpretation bought to life using the minute-repeater complication."

Chronograph. The SIHH itself catered to the needs of today's digital generation, keeping up with the trend with their separate pod rooms and virtual interactions to keep the audience entertained and hooked to the world of fine watchmaking.

One brand, which perhaps stood out from the rest, with their appeal to the very open-minded and experimental minds of today, was the nautical watch brand, Ulysse Nardin. Their second year at the SIHH fair saw an exhibit which would make Christian Grey forget his lovely Anastasia. If you haven't guessed it yet, allow us to break the news: they introduced their very own Red Room at the SIHH.

What does a man really need: pleasure, passion, and his favourite timepiece. Well, that's exactly what Ulysse Nardin aimed for with their very out-of-the-box “#freakmeout” display at the SIHH. Having unveiled their new Freak Vision timepiece at the event, the event also included the unveiling of their Classic Voyeur collection. The world of watchmaking is not new to the concept of minute-repeaters and hourstrikers. What they are new to are the incorporation of these very complications in very playful timepieces which add a rather “nauti"-cal twist to one's wrist, if you know what we mean.

"The “Maison Close” offered a discreet screen to the closed doors of the world of “forbidden love”. Inside, the spotlight was undoubtedly stolen by the brand's most erotic creation ever, the Classic Voyeur, a Jaquemart minute repeater that literally makes love to time."

Where 2017 saw the debut of the very beautiful Classic Hourstriker limited edition, the 2018 SIHH was privy to the Classic Voyeur collection; a very tasteful interpretation bought to life using the minute-repeater complication. The “Maison Close” offered a discreet screen to the closed doors of the world of “forbidden love”. Inside, the spotlight was undoubtedly stolen by the brand's most erotic creation ever, the Classic Voyeur, a Jaquemart minute repeater that literally makes love to time.

Fashioned from 18k white gold or pink gold, the dials feature two well proportioned couples caught in, what one might say, a flagrante delicto. An exclusive creation, the timepiece offers two tones of chiming – seductive, low-pitched chimes for the hours, and higher-pitched ones for the minutes. The 42mm's are limited to 18 pieces.
