Breguet’s new Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 now in ‘Breguet Blue’

Part of the brand’s Tradition line, the latest iteration features the same design codes as the earlier models
Breguet recently added a Chronographe Indépendant 7077 ‘Breguet Blue’ (Ref. 7077BB/GY/9XV) to its Tradition collection, which takes inspiration from the renowned souscription and tact watches developed by Abraham-Louis Breguet. There are already two Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077 models that exist in the brand’s arsenal, the first released at the BaselWorld 2015 (Ref. 7077BB/G1/9XV) and the second in 2018 (Ref. 7077BR/G1/9XV).

The watches are known for their mechanism which shows separate timekeeping indications and the chronograph, possible because of an independent sub-movement with one barrel, one gear train, and one oscillator for timekeeping, operating at a frequency of 3Hz, and an independent mechanism with its own energy source, gear train, and oscillator for regulating the chronograph functions, operating at a high frequency of 5Hz, and indicated via a small hand at 6 o’clock.

Aesthetically, the latest version shares similarities with the two models previously released in the line. A 44mm 18K white gold version (Ref. 7077BB/GY/9XV), it features a chronograph indicator at 6 o’clock, skeletonised dial with two separate independent gear trains, for hours and minutes, and the chronograph. The retrograde hands at 2 and 10 o’clock indicate the power reserve and the chronograph’s minutes counter, while at 4 o’clock and 8 o’clock the two balance-wheels face one another. The blue display on the dial shows time. Visible through the sapphire crystal is the manual winding Calibre 580DR with a 55-hours power reserve.

The watch is water resistant up to 30 metre and comes on a blue alligator leather strap with a  three-blade deployant clasp white gold buckle. Images: Courtesy brand
