Founded in 1955 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, Corum is known for its coin and Golden Bridge watches. Now, after being under Citychamp Watch & Jewellery Group Limited, a Hong Kong-based company, for 12 years, the brand has been purchased by a team led by Sales Director Haso Mehmedovic in a management buyout, supported by a group of Swiss investors. The brand will have a global relaunch mid-2026.
CorumAlthough only 32 years old, Mehmedovic is a Corum veteran: He joined the brand in 2011 as a young watchmaker and gradually worked his way up to Sales Director. He now leads the company as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors. This is good news for Corum and its fans: Due to its history of many creative products, the brand has the potential to return to its former market significance.
Corum icon: the Coin WatchCorum is known for iconic models such as the Golden Bridge with the famous rod movement invented by Vincent Calabrese (pictured at the top), the Bubble introduced at the turn of the millennium by then-owner Severin Wunderman, the Admiral (formerly Admiral's Cup), highly prized by sailors, and the coin watch with a dial crafted from a gold 20 US dollar Double Eagle coin. In recent years, things have been somewhat quieter for Corum, but in late summer 2024, Corum caused a stir with the unique Golden Bridge Serpent released at Geneva Watch Days.
New CEO of Corum: Haso Mehmedovic“We will be reinforcing our distribution, consolidating key markets, opening new horizons — and above all, bringing Corum back into the spotlight for collectors and enthusiasts around the world. I’m proud to lead this new chapter alongside a talented, committed team grounded in the values of Swiss watchmaking, and we share a long-term vision,” says Mehmedovic
The Citychamp Group includes other Swiss watch brands such as Eterna, which will remain unaffected by the Corum sale. Mehmedovic has already indicated that he sees 2025 as a transition year in which the anniversary will play a less significant role.
