Just over a year after its initial debut, Frederique Constant’s Classics Moneta Moonphase returns in a new aesthetic. Named for its coin-inspired flange—a detail echoing the milled edge of o coin—the watch brings back the fluted bezel, a Genevan signature. Housed in a 37 mm stainless steel case, the new Moneta is for both men and women.
A sun-yellow gilded case is complemented by the sidereal black of a varnished dial. At six o’clock, the moonphase complication tracks a gilded moon and stars against a traditional midnight-blue sky. What appears at first glance to be a classic fluted bezel is, on closer inspection, sitting beneath the sapphire crystal, functioning as a bezel-turned-flange.
The polished vintage dauphine hands with no seconds hand complete the dial. There are no hour-markers and a fluted crown sits at 3 o’clock. The watch moves to a quartz calibre offering an impressive 60 months (five years) of battery life. It comes with an alligator-style pattern strap crafted from calfskin, fastened by a lightweight pin buckle that reinforces comfort.
With this new Classics Moneta Moonphase, Frederique Constant continues to cultivate a vision of watchmaking rooted in heritage but unafraid to reinterpret codes. It is mysterious, radiant, and assuredly distinctive—a timepiece that wears its elegance lightly, yet leaves a lasting impression.
