Founded in Neuchâtel, Switzerland, by Rémi Maillat in 2013,
Krayon is known for its
novel complications like sunrise and sunset times, paired with craftsmanship and wearability. The ‘Anywhere’ watch could tell the sunrise and sunset times at any place in the world chosen by the wearer, and its white gold iteration won in the Calendar and Astronomy category at GPHG 2022.
Krayon has been participating in Time to Watches since the fair started in 2022. This time around, the brand will showcase its new PAC‑MAN™ series, blending its mechanical prowess with the famous arcade game PAC‑MAN.
Limited to 15 pieces, the 39 mm Krayon x PAC‑MAN™ is crafted in platinum. Measuring 39 mm, the watch features a polished onyx base dial with superimposed hand-painted sapphire discs. Reflecting the original 1980 game, the dial of the watch shows pixel-style typography of 24-hours numerals and Pac Man characters, and design. There’s hand-painted ghosts and the ‘power-boosting’ cherry just outside the central hour and minute dial.
Further, there’s a subdial at 6 o’clock, indicating date and month, and the time of the sunrise and sunset is indicated by the position of the ghost and big cookie, respectively.
Interestingly, much like in the game, the ghost gang becomes blue at midnight, symbolizing their “edible” state, before returning to their original colors at dawn: Red for Blinky, pink for Pinky, orange for Clyde, and light blue for Inky.
Turn the watch over to see the sapphire crystal caseback revealing the manual-winding Caliber C030, boasting a 72 hours power reserve. A hand-stitched black alligator leather strap completes the watch.
