Watches and Wonders 2026: Louis Moinet unveils two Time to Race watches and the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph

Both Time to Race references are unique pieces
From sports focused models to cosmically inspired complication, Louis Moinet brings it all at this Watches and Wonders. There are two new Time to Race models crafted in 18-Karat red gold (Re. LM-96.50.FL) and Grade 5 Titanium (Ref. LM-96.20.FL), both are piece unique; and an 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph, a 12-piece limited edition.

Time to Race Flash: Chronograph as an adrenaline instrument

With the new Time to Race Flash, Louis Moinet translates the dynamism of motorsport into an uncompromising chronograph aesthetic. The focus is clearly on the moment – that fraction of a second that decides victory or defeat. Accordingly, the chronograph architecture makes a dominant appearance on the dial.

Visually, the watch thrives on contrast: matte graphite meets warm gold tones, reminiscent of classic watch movements and the golden age of motorsport. The Time to Race Flash is available in two versions: Grade 5 titanium and 18-karat rose gold. The famous "lucky number" is prominently displayed at the center, making each watch a personalized, unique piece within its edition.

Technically, the Flash is equally ambitious. The automatic caliber with monopusher chronograph and column wheel is visibly displayed beneath a domed sapphire crystal . The case, available in titanium or rose gold, acts like a technical exoskeleton – light, complex, and consistently designed for performance.

1816 Tourbillon Chronograph: A tribute to the invention of the chronograph
With the 1816 Tourbillon Chronograph, Louis Moinet bridges the gap back to its origins. The watch is a direct reference to the "Compteur de Tierces" of 1816 – the first chronograph in history.

The design deliberately references historical elements, reinterpreting them in a modern design language. The 40.6 mm titanium case combines classic lines with a technical presence. On the dial, various surfaces and finely engraved details create depth, while blued hands and a visibly integrated tourbillon add a strong visual accent.

Inside, the hand-wound caliber LM114 operates with two complications that have shaped the history of watchmaking: a monopusher chronograph with column wheel and a flying tourbillon . The 96-hour power reserve underscores its claim as a serious haute horlogerie creation. Limited to just twelve pieces , this model is intended primarily for collectors.

1816 Chronograph: Historical design in a new colour palette
In parallel, Louis Moinet presents a new version of the 1816 Chronograph , which offers a more accessible interpretation of its historical heritage. At its heart is a newly developed in-house caliber, whose architecture is based on the original 1816 design.

The striking feature is the warm champagne colour of the dial, which particularly emphasizes the complex layering and the different levels. The typical arrangement of the subdials is retained, ensuring high recognition value, while Roman numerals on the hour counter directly reference the historical model.

The titanium case retains its technical character, yet appears more elegant and understated than the tourbillon model. The manual winding mechanism and classic elements such as the swan-neck regulator and column wheel clearly demonstrate the deliberate focus on mechanical tradition.
