Watches and Wonders 2026: Nomos Glashütte’s Tangente Neomatik 38 Update brings a more wearable size to the line

The Tangente Neomatik Update downsizes to a 38 mm case size
Wearable sizing is now the name of the game. Consistently for the past five to six years, brands have been creating universal / unisex case sizing of their important models in a bid to appeal to a wider audience. Nomos Glashütte has now done this with its Tangente Neomatik Update line of watches, which now comes in a 38.5 mm, downsized from a 41 mm.

The Tangente Neomatik Update, a sub line of watches in the Tangente Neomatik line, is characterised by a date ring at the edge of the dial, where the current date framed by two red markers that move along this outer ring. The design was first introduced in 2018, and went on to win the Challenge Watch Prize at the 2018 GPHG Awards. The brand currently has two variations in the 41 mm size, in dial colours of silver-plated white and blue.

Three new white dial iterations have been added to the line at Watches and Wonders 2026, in steel and gold, all with a strong dress watch appeal. The aesthetics follow the Bauhaus style of design, and in the steel version, the typography and the hands on the dial are in black, with the date markers in red; in the 18K the hands are blue, the typography in black, and the date markers in red. There is a small seconds counter at 6. There are angled lugs, and the watches have a thickness of 7.4mm.

The watch is powered by the DUW 6101 with a bidirectional winding rotor and a quick-change date mechanism, visible through the sapphire crystal. To keep the movement as thin as possible, the date ring is positioned around the outside and has been specially adapted for the new, more compact case size. The calibre features the NOMOS swing system, recognisable by its blue balance spring.
