Geneva Watch Days 2022: Greubel Forsey’s latest GMT watch

After introducing its first GMT watch more than a decade ago, Greubel Forsey at Geneva Watch Days 2022 has released an all-new GMT watch—the GMT Balancier Convexe
Best known for crafting highly complicated timepieces with the most quirky designs, Greubel Forsey at Geneva Watch Days 2022 has introduced a brand new interpretation of the GMT function—the GMT Balancier Convexe. Featuring a rotating, three-dimensional globe, the latest timepiece showcases the brand’s mastery in skilful craftsmanship and will replace all the previous GMT models in its catalogue.

Although the Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe measures a bulky 46.5mm, it wears pretty comfortably on the wrist, thanks to its curved profile and hidden lugs. Not only this, the new Greubel Forsey watch has been made from titanium which further enhances its wearability. However, what steals the limelight here is the timepiece’s dial.

Protected by the dome-shaped sapphire crystal, the display comes, as mentioned before, with a hand-carved titanium globe—placed inside a sub-dial at the 1 o’clock position

Protected by the dome-shaped sapphire crystal, the display comes, as mentioned before, with a hand-carved titanium globe—placed inside a sub-dial at the 1 o’clock position—that makes one full revolution every day, moving at the same rate as Earth. This helps in reading world time by matching a location on the globe to its respective point on the 24-hour scale. Meanwhile, for a more precise second-time zone display, there is another sub-dial at the 9 o’clock position, which moves in sync with the world time display. Last but not the least, the main timekeeping is indicated by two red-coloured arrows that are seen inside the counter at 1 o’clock.

Under the hood, there is the new in-house movement with a frequency of 21,600vph and a power reserve of up to 72 hours

Another visual centrepiece of the new Greubel Forsey watch is its 30-degree inclined balance wheel, placed at the 7 o’clock position, which a visual depth to the overall design of the timepiece. Under the hood, there is the new in-house movement with a frequency of 21,600vph and a power reserve of up to 72 hours. On turning over the Greubel Forsey GMT Balancier Convexe, one gets acquainted with a sapphire disc, featuring city names along with a larger, outer 24-hour scale that indicates time in each of the 24 primary time zones. There is also a smaller 24-hour scale for summertime.

The new Greubel Forsey watch is available with the option of either an integrated titanium bracelet or a textured fabric-effect rubber strap in striking cobalt blue.
