Hublot honours its partnership with Swiss skipper Alan Roura, which began in 2022, with the new Big Bang Unico Sailing Team (Ref. 441.QX.1149.NR.ARA24), a 100-piece limited edition. The brand and the sailor have been sailing partners in prestigious races such as the Route du Rhum, the Transat Jacques Vabre, and the legendary Vendée Globe, and the new timepiece combines the brand’s heritage with contemporary details.
Hublot Big Bang Unico Sailing TeamTwo decades ago, Hublot entered the maritime scene for the first time with the "Subaquaneus", a timepiece specially designed for the challenges of the sea. Still an independent and small brand at the time, Hublot already demonstrated that the brand's roots are deeply anchored in the oceans - a reference that is even reflected in the brand's name: "Hublot" means "porthole" in French. Since then, Hublot has developed into a watch manufacturer that is constantly striving for innovation without losing sight of its passion for the sea.
The new watch's colour scheme - a powerful black and bright yellow - is a tribute to Roura's IMOCA sailboat. This colour combination is inspired by the iconic Hublot Classic Original from the 1980s, when the combination of yellow gold and a black rubber strap was a revolutionary step and had a lasting impact on the brand's appearance.
Alan Roura's IMOCA sailing yacht
The Swiss origins are obvious both in Roura and in his watch. The Swiss flag is emblazoned on the hull of the boat, which can also be found on the counter at 9 o'clock, complemented by the trigram "SUI 7", which marks Roura's IMOCA in ocean regattas.
The polished carbon fibre that covers the case of the Big Bang Unico Sailing Team gives the watch not only an exceptional lightness but also remarkable resistance - perfect for the challenges of the high seas. With a diameter of 42 mm, the watch is compact but still imposing. The textile strap with a polyurethane coating recalls the woven sails of Roura's boat and is adorned with the word ‘Hublot’ - a reference to the mainsail of the IMOCA, which also adorns the logo.
Inside the watch beats the ultra-modern Unico manufacture calibre, a chronograph movement with a power reserve of 72 hours. The striking column wheel at 6 o'clock is reminiscent of the winches that Roura uses to set his sails.
The watch is priced at - Rs. 24,43,000 (approx.)
