The new Ressence Type 8 Indigo showcases traditional Japanese indigo dyeing craft

The dial of the Type 8 Indigo features spiral patterned indigo-dyed silk threads
For the new Ressence Type 8 Indigo, the brand has combined the art of Japanese indigo dyeing with innovative watchmaking. Limited to only 8 pieces, the timepiece is the result of a collaboration with Shellman, a leading dealer of antique watches in Tokyo, Japan, to commemorate the reopening and expansion of their luxurious retail space in Isetan Shinjuku.
Ressence Type 8 Indigo

The design of the dial is a masterpiece of artisanal perfection. Ressence deliberately chose indigo-dyed silk threads that were applied by hand in a spiral pattern. This technique, inspired by the rings of a tree, is intended to imitate the transience and cycle of life. A single thread, 0.2 mm thin and 2.5 meters long, is used for production and is applied to the titanium dial with the utmost care. Experienced artisans from Switzerland carried out the processing.

The choice of indigo as the central element of the design is no coincidence. This natural pigment, which has been processed in Japan since the 6th century, represents a deep connection with tradition and craftsmanship. Ressence worked with Buaisou, a renowned company from Tokushima Prefecture. Buaisou controls every step of the dyeing process, from the cultivation of the plants to the final pigment production, thus guaranteeing the highest quality.

The Type 8 Indigo is a watch that combines sophistication and functionality. Its minimalist design is limited to hour and minute displays, bringing the unique dial design into focus. The Ressence Orbital Convex System (ROCS 8) technology ensures smooth time reading by driving the display through a patented satellite system. The polished grade 5 titanium case measures 42.9 mm in diameter with a slim 11 mm height and weighs just 42 grams - a combination that guarantees lightness and comfort.

Every detail of the Type 8 Indigo has been carefully considered, from the engraving filled with blue Superluminova to the neutral grey PVD coating on the dial areas that cannot absorb threads. A domed sapphire crystal cover with an internal anti-reflective coating ensures clear visibility and underlines the watch's simple elegance. The watch is priced at Rs. 23,97,000 (approx.)
