Dennison, the London-based brand that originally supplied cases to major watchmakers including Rolex, Omega, and Jaeger-LeCoultre, ceased operations in 1967. It was resuscitated last year with the ALD collection, a line of time-only watches with stone dials, named after the founder of the brand – Aaron Lufkin Dennison. For Geneva Watch Days this year, Dennison is expanding its ALD line with a dual-time model – Dennison ALD Dual Time, featuring two pairs of hour-minute hands, corresponding to two time-zones that can be set via their own crowns.
The new dual-time watch features the signature elements of the line – a curved cushion case, integrated lugs, and slim profile (6.1 mm thick). The watch comes in two choices of case materials, stainless steel and gold PVD, measuring a resized 35.6 mm, 2 mm wider than that of its predecessor. The case is inspired by the ‘TV Case’ shapes of the 1970s.
“With the ALD Dual Time, we chose to enlarge the case slightly to let the stone dials express themselves fully,” says Emmanuel Gueit, the designer of the watch. “Every nuance, every reflection of the natural material gains presence and intensity, while preserving proportions that remain elegant on both men’s and women’s wrists.”
Exuding a vintage aesthetic, the dials are available in two types of layout: The dual stone dials where the dial is composed of two different stones within a single dial, each framing one time zone, and another in monolithic dials that are carved from a single stone and features a sunray subdial for the second time zone. They are available in tiger’s eye and marble, bloodstone and lapis, malachite with green sunray, lapis lazuli with blue sunray and aventurine with black sunray, respectively.
The watches are powered by a twin Swiss quartz Ronda movement and come dressed in Epsom leather strap and matching buckle. There are a variety of coloured straps to choose from.
“Whether you’re traveling or maintaining a connection to another place, the Dual Time evokes emotion—allowing you to carry both worlds with you, elegantly and effortlessly,” says Toby Sutton, Founder & Director of Dennison.
