Geneva Watch Days 2025: Urwerk’s new watch is the UR‑150 ‘Blue Scorpion’

The watch features a retrograde minutes hand that stretches across a 240° arc, like a scorpion’s tail
At Geneva Watch Days 2025, Urwerk unveiled an evolution of its satellite‑hour flagship, called the UR‑150 'Blue Scorpion', and flaunting the signature engineering that Urwerk is renowned for.

Urwerk UR-150 'Blue Scorpion'

The UR‑150’s mechanics include a sweeping, retrograde minutes hand—stretching across an expansive 240° arc—that strikes like a scorpion’s tail, which goes for 60 to zero in just 1/100th of a second. Simultaneously, the three orbiting hour satellites rotate 270°, aligning the next hour in perfect synchrony. This is powered by the automatic UR‑50.01 calibre beating at 4 Hz (28,800 vph) with a 43‑hour power reserve. In October last year, the brand debuted the UR-150 Limited Edition in Scorpion Titan and Scorpion Dark.

Urwerk’s earlier models, like the UR‑100, offered wandering hours over a 120° arc; the UR‑150 doubles the canvas to 240°, thereby needing re‑engineered mechanics. Aiding this synchronisation is a satellite complication mechanism featuring a cam‑and‑rack system, augmented by a “flying wheel” and pinion. This setup efficiently manages the forces generated by the 240° retrograde leap. A speed regulator, typically seen in minute repeaters, tempers the retrograde return, ensuring smoothness and mechanical harmony. The movement features an automatic winding system governed by twin turbines, mitigating shocks and optimizing energy delivery.

The caseback

On the design front, the UR-150 'Blue Scorpion' has a sandblasted steel and titanium case with a new concentric groove motif, lending the watch texture and visual depth. The dial and movement elements—satellite discs, retrograde hand, and surrounding ring—are treated in brilliant blue, with hints of neon yellow on the minutes hand and green lumed markers for readability. The tonneau‑style case measures 42.5 mm x 51 mm and is 14.8 mm tall. Complemented it is a supple blue rubber strap with a foldable clasp.

The watch is limited to 50 pieces and is priced at CHF 90,000.
