Omega introduces seven Speedmasters to its Dark and Grey Side of the Moon collection

All new watches are crafted in ceramic and features space-inspired design
After bringing refined size and new movements to its iconic Aqua Terra collection, Omega has now updated its Dark Side of the Moon collection with seven new Speedmasters. The latest Speedmaster watches not only feature newly developed movements and updated case constructions, but also come with redesigned rubber and nylon straps.

Inspired by NASA’s lunar missions, Omega first launched Dark Side of the Moon collection in 2013. After more than a decade, the brand renewed it with seven new iterations. The watches include seven Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon across four dial variations. There are five watches crafted in polished black ceramic while two come in plasma treated polished-brushed grey ceramic.

Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.004

The Ref. 2.44.51.01.004 and Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.002 are the same, as they only differ in the strap options they are offered with. They have a polished black ceramic bezel with Liquidmetal™ tachymeter scale and a polished ceramic dial. The other similar references differentiated on the basis of strap options are Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.003 and Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.005, both features polished-brushed black ceramic case, a brushed black ceramic bezel with black Grand Feu enamel filled laser-engraved tachymeter scale, and a sand-blasted ceramic dial. These two are all-black models.

Ref. 310.92.44.50.06.001 and Ref. 310.92.44.50.06.002 are also similar—they are crafted in plasma treated polished-brushed grey ceramic. Also marked as the version with Grey Side of the Moon, these watches feature a grey ceramic bezel with white Super-LumiNova filled laser-engraved tachymeter scale.

The seventh watch in the collection is Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.001 which is offered in black rubber strap. It also comes in polished-brushed black ceramic with a Liquidmetal™ filled techymeter scale. Its ceramic dial is sand-blasted by laser.

The dials of all five black ceramic watches have the same design codes. There is a small seconds counter at 9, a 60-minute counter and a 12-hour recorder at 3, and a date window o’clock. However, Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.001 stands out with its red varnished central chronograph hand. The model also lacks a date window.

Both the grey models feature a laser-ablated dial that reminisces the moon’s surface. Following the design codes it displays small-seconds at 9, a 30-minute recorder at 3, and a 12-hour counter at 6. They are driven by The Calibre Omega 3869, a specially decorated movement engraved with the quote, “THE MOON IS ESSENTIALLY GREY”, attributed to Command Module Pilot, Jim Lovell, during the Apollo 8 mission. It is the same movement that was integrated in the Apollo 8 Dark Side of the Moon models.

The movements found in other models include Omega 9900, providing a 60 hour power reserve of about. The movement features a matte-blackened rotor, specially finished main plate and bridges, and a black varnished engravings. Ref. 310.92.44.51.01.001 is equipped with a manual-winding OMEGA 9908 Black Edition movement boasting a 60 hour power reserve. All movements are METAS certified chronometers.
