Omega begins the new year with Speedmaster Moonwatch in Black and White

Speedmaster Moonwatch models reinterpret the legendary chronograph with inverted black-and-white Panda-style dials
Few watches carry the cultural and technical weight of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch. From its origins as a racing chronograph to its historic role on the Moon, the Speedmaster has become a benchmark of functional design and mechanical reliability. In 2026, Omega adds a new chapter to this story with two Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional references, one in steel and one in its proprietary Moonshine Gold, that explore a reversed black-and-white dial aesthetic, demonstrating how carefully considered details can refresh an icon without compromising its identity. For Speedmaster fans, it is a pleasure to see it evolve over time, with each generation refining proportions, finishes, and execution.
The newcomers are built around the Moonwatch’s signature stepped dial construction, now realized through a double-plate architecture. The upper dial plate is finished in polished black with a varnished and lacquered surface that delivers a deep, glossy sheen. Rhodium-plated frames define the sub dials, which sit on a contrasting white base layer, also lacquered for visual depth. This inverted Panda-style arrangement continues across the dial elements: the main minute track is transferred in white, while the sub dials feature black printed scales, reinforcing the high-contrast look and improving legibility. The steel version features rhodium-plated hands and hour markers filled with white Superluminova. The second model in 18K Moonshine Gold boasts  hour and minute hands, sub dial hands, and hour markers executed in Moonshine Gold, also filled with white SuperLumiNova.
Complementing the monochrome dials is a black ceramic bezel ring fitted with the Moonwatch's signature tachymeter scale in white enamel, a material choice that combines durability with a crisp, permanent finish. In addition, the new watches are fitted with a hesalite-style sapphire crystal that echoes the look of the original Moonwatch while offering modern scratch resistance and anti-reflective treatment.

Both versions measure 42mm in diameter and are delivered on the familiar Moonwatch bracelet, finished with alternating polished and brushed surfaces. The bracelet incorporates Omega’s patented comfort release adjustment system, allowing on-the-fly sizing without tools.

Inside both watches beats the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Caliber 3861. This hand-wound movement represents the most advanced evolution of the legendary Caliber 321, the same lineage of movements trusted by NASA astronauts during the Apollo missions. Certified as a Master Chronometer, the Caliber 3861 meets the highest Swiss standards for precision, performance, and magnetic resistance.
