DOXA has introduced a new collection in the lead-up to Geneva Watch Week next month that revisits and updates its SUB 200 collection launched in 2019. The SUB 200 is the most affordable of DOXA’s offerings, and the new line – the SUB 200 II – adds a design-led update to it.
The Sub 200 II watches are slimmer than the Sub 200 watches The new SUB 200 II showcases a retro diver aesthetic with a slimmed down profile and fume dials, making it the first DOXA collection to boast this detail. Built in high-grade 316L stainless steel, the watches, which are water resistant to 200 metres, come in a range of dial colours – green, blue, black grey – along with a special Redcoral dial that has a black DLC-coated build. The colours are paired with steel mesh bracelets, and coloured, textured rubber straps with a distinctive retro-diver look.
DOXA Sub 200 II Redcoral with a black DLC-coated caseThe dial gradient, which darkens towards the edges, is the highlight of the timepieces, and is further enhanced by a moiré finish that plays well with light. All this has been done while keeping DOXA’s cornerstone of legibility in place in its. The dive watches feature a unidirectional bezel that is fitted with an aluminium insert in black, blue,or green depending on the dial colour. A date window rests at 3, while pencil-shaped hour and minute hands indicate the time. The dial is topped by a glassbox sapphire, and there is a screwdown crown to ensure water resistance.
The DOXA Sub 200 II line features fume dialsThe watches measure 44 mm, with a very short lug-to-lug dimension, which gives the impression of it being closer to a 42 mm size, and also makes them ergonomic. A 12.80 mm in thickness – 1 mm slimmer than the classic SUB 200 – gives the watches a more streamlined wrist profile without compromising its robustness. The Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement provides a power reserve of approximately 38 hours, which sits behind the caseback featuring DOXA’s sailboat emblem.
The watches come with coloured, textured rubber strapsWearability has been further explored via the stainless steel Milanese mesh bracelet, which follows in the footsteps of historic dive watches. Its finely woven links create a supple feel, ensuring even weight distribution and flexibility, and minimising pressure points for smooth and constant wear. The bracelet comes with an adjustable security clasp.
The highlight of the watches is the reference that’s fully coated in black DLC— case, bezel, and crown—paired with a new deep red dial named Redcoral, reminiscent of sunlit coral reefs. The red is offset by the white painted indexes enhanced with Super-LumiNova®, while preserving the legibility and balance that define the SUB line.
