Bvlgari started this year with an expansive showcase of timepieces at the LVMH Watch Week. Now, at Watches and Wonders the brand once again raises the bar with a plethora of releases in its Octo Finissimo and Serpenti lines.
There are five 37 Octo Finissimo models (reduced case size) and a 10-piece limited edition Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum, the thinnest platinum tourbillon, along with the Serpenti collection, which expands with gold and steel Tubogas Studs Capsules and two new Aeternas.
Octo Finissimo
There are a total of five new extra thin Octo Finissimo models - Ref. 104089, Ref. 104351, and Ref. 104250 (a minute repeater) come in sandblasted titanium; Ref. 104120 is in satin-polished yellow gold; and Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum (Ref. 104344), is in satin-polished platinum. Apart from the tourbillon, which measures 40 mm, the other four watches appear in 37 mm case size.
First, let’s talk about the four Octo Finissimo models - they follow the same design codes of the Octo Finissimo line, though for the first time in a reduced 37 mm case size—earlier models measured 40 mm. This revised proportion makes the watch more versatile for every wrist.
"The Octo Finissimo 37 is, for us, a reimagined blank canvas. By reducing its diameter, we have
created a space where creativity expresses itself in its purest forms. It's the expression of
continuous innovation where every detail is an opportunity to reimagine watchmaking,” said Fabrizio Buonamassa Stigliani, Product Creation Executive Director, Bvlgari.
With the reduced case sizes, also introduced is a new in-house automatic movement Calibre BVF 100, equipped inside the three time-only models. However the minute repeater iteration, employs a pre-existing Calibre BVL 362. The new movement BVF 100 took over three years to develop—it is just 2.35 mm in height and 31 mm in diameter. Aesthetically, the movement is hand decorated with Côtes de Genève and perlage finishing and boasts a power reserve of about 72 hours.
Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum
Launched last year, Bvlgari’s Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon remains the world’s thinnest flying tourbillon; the brand now introduces Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum, the thinnest tourbillon in platinum.
“This creation is not merely a new technical feat, but a true reaffirmation of our ability to innovate by combining the record-breaking thinness of the movement with the nobility and complexity of platinum. It embodies the perfect alliance between radical elegance and horological mastering, a timepiece that, through its exclusivity and sophistication, sets a new standard in the world of exceptional watches” stated Jean Christophe Babin, CEO, LVMH Watches and Bvlgari.
Platinum is one of the exclusive materials in watchmaking, as it’s more dense and malleable and needs high expertise to machine it. The new Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum not only features a 40 mm platinum case but also sports an integrated platinum bracelet.
The watch also debuts with a signature blue tone skeletonised dial with satin-brushed and polished finishes. There's a skeletonised hour and minute counter with blue PVD coating, and a tourbillon at 5 o’clock. Powering the watch is the same manual winding movement BVF 900, launched last year in the Bvlgari’s Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon.
Bvlgari Serpenti Tubogas Studs Capsule
The brand has launched four new Serpenti Tubogas Studs Capsule watches—three in stainless steel and gold combination and one in full yellow gold (Ref. 104302)
The two tone watches are distinguished with mother of pearl dial (Ref. 104301), sodalite stone
Dial (Ref. 104340), and malachite stone dial (Ref. 104360), while the full yellow gold watch features a carnelian stone dial. Measuring 35 mm, the bezel of the watches are decorated with 38 brilliant-cut diamonds.
The work is also done on the bracelets this time, as they are decorated with five gold studs—hence the name Studs Capsule—which are also set with 60 brilliant-cut diamonds in Ref. 104302 and Ref. 104340. All four watches are powered by a quartz movement. The two tone watches are available in two bracelet sizes: 135 & 145 mm.
Serpenti Aeterna
Launched last year, Aeterna, made waves for its minimalist and geometric design approach. And we were sure that the brand would bring it back this time. And here comes two new iterations - One is crafted in rose gold and is fully bejewelled with multi-coloured stones (Ref. 104312) and the other comes in yellow gold and is decorated with diamonds (Ref. 104341).
Both are 24 mm models and follow the Aeterna’s design aesthetics. The watches feature diamond pave dial and a mother of pearl dial, respectively, in the aforementioned order, showing hour and minutes.
These time-only high jewelry watches are also equipped with quartz movement. The yellow gold model also comes with two bracelet sizes: 145 & 155mm.
