Are you ready to #feelit ? Can you feel the Rado experience? We definitely did at the 2020 Rado Annual Novelties held at The W hotel in Goa yesterday. Based on the theme of the colour green and the 'Feel It' campaign, the novelties presented a fresh feeling combined with the technical and aesthetic expertise of Rado that we are used to. For Rado, 2020 is a year to “Feel It!”. Whether you are feeling the emotional connection to a particular watch family like the Captain Cook or feeling the cold ceramic case of the Hyperchrome on your wrist, the basic gist of the story is to “feel it”. And feel we did.
The novelties from Rado focused on the younger generation who want to choose a watch that is bold, fresh and fashion-forward. While the history and traditional watchmaking has an appeal of its own, Rado as a brand has always focused on the future. Hence, with the green coloured dials, modern aesthetics and the “Feel It!” campaign, Rado hopes to connect on a emotional level with the aspiring watch enthusiasts. Apart from being known as the Master of Materials, with the new 2020 novelties, Rado seems to be pushing towards a wider range of offering, not just in materials but colours too. Driving home the idea of “feeling it” the reimagined Rado pushes for adventure, friendship and contemporary style. So before it gets too late, here is a rundown of the Rado 2020 Novelties and some personal highlights. This is Rado reimagined. Get ready to Feel It!
Rado Captain Cook (Bronze)
There is something about this combination that one just cannot ignore – I am talking about the green dial and bronze case. The new Rado Captain Cook is one such timepiece. What Rado has done here is merged this almost perfect combination with one of its most popular collection. The Captain Cook as we know is a strikingly good looking timepiece. Now add a beautiful lush green dial and an earthy bronze case to the mix, and you have yourself a winner. What the Captain Cook offers more is the bronze bezel with a high-tech ceramic insert in the same green tone as the dial making the watch 'pop'. Making a statement with its first look, the Captain Cook Bronze is powered by the Swiss Made ETA C07 movement that clocks in a power reserve of upto 80 hours.
Strapped to a dark green leather strap, the Captain Cook Bronze is a timepiece that not only looks great but feel even better on the wrist. Change it up with a NATO strap for your casusal outings and you will never need another watch again!
Rado Hyperchrome
Smooth is the one word that I have always associated with the Hyperchrome. It is one of those few timepieces that looks so chic on the wrist, you will be hard pressed to make it look casual. Since its release in 2012, the Hyperchrome has some ardent fans whose love for the high-tech ceramic properties will never fade. For 2020, Rado has added a warm olive green dial model to the collection for both men and women. Albeit the olive green dial is not a personal favourite, for the metallic look of Hyperchrome with its polished plasma high-tech ceramic case, the colour just works! As for the material used for the case and the bracelet, the scratch-resistant property (yes we tried!) of the plasma high-ceramic is magical. The polished case against the warm olive dial and shiny rhodium coloured hands and indexes gives the watch a fresh look that begs you to try it on your wrist. Once its there on your wrist, then you are sold!
Rado True Secret
Keeping a secret as it always does, the 2020 Rado 40mm True Secret features a green jewel tone dial with its signature cut-out dial section at 12 o' clock that offers a magnificent view of the movement working within. However, one look at the dial and our focus shifts from its signature feature (a peek into the movement or balance wheel) to the beauty of the dial tone that works beautifully against the metallic plasma ceramic case. When light hits the right point, the dial shines brighter than the metallic case itself giving the watch a the kind of appeal that is very hard to find in other watches. While the signature feature of the True Secret has always stayed to its basic mantra of revealing and concealing various aspects of itself, with the 2020 edition, the True Secret reveals more than its actually conceals and you can feel it!
Rado Captain Cook Automatic
A natural choice for modern explorers, the Captain Cook takes the green approach in its aesthetics this year with a green dial combined with a stainless steel case featuring a green ceramic bezel insert. The lusciousness and warmth of the green “ness” of the watch works beautifully against the “colder” stainless steel case and bracelet. Powered by the Swiss Made C07 automatic movement, the Captain Cook keeps good time with a 80 hour power reserve.
Dedicated to the spirit of adventure, the Captain Cook also features the new Rado Easy Clip System that will take the watch from a rice grain stainless steel bracelet to any leather or NATO style nylon strap. The possibilities are endless with the Captain Cook Automatic.
