King Charles III has been crowned as the new monarch of the United Kingdom and 14 Commonwealth Realms. The King is believed to have a good taste in fashion since a young age and is a watch enthusiast, so much so that the former Prince of Wales has an impressive watch collection. We take a look at the watches King Charles has favoured in the past.
Hamilton RAF Pilot’s Chronograph 924-3306
At a young age, Charles served in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Navy, and trained as a pilot. While training with the RAF Cranwell, he received the Hamilton RAF Pilot’s Chronograph 924-3306. The 41mm steel chronograph has an asymmetric case and is one of the four model series made by Precista, CWC, Newmark, and Hamilton, specially crafted for the RAF and the Royal Navy by the brand.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso
One of the significant watches in King Charles’s collection is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso, crafted in 18K yellow gold.
Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Prince’s Trust
The King’s Hublot was one of those commissioned by him and bears the logo of Prince’s Trust, a charitable organisation that works with young people and fights against malnutrition and poverty to improve healthcare. The brand aimed to donate a significant percentage of the sales of the watch to charity. The 45mm timepiece was crafted in polished and satin-finished titanium and released in 2017 as a limited edition of 100 pieces.
Breguet Ref 3680 BA
Swiss watch brand Breguet presented a classic 18K gold Ref 3680 BA model in 2008 to King Charles III as a gift for his 60th birthday. The caseback of the watch had the engravings 'H.R.H The Prince Of Wales' and 'In commemoration of your 60th Birthday. 14 November 2008.'
Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronograph
One of the King’s favourites is the Parmigiani Fleurier Toric Chronograph, an automatic chronograph made in 18K gold. This piece is believed to be bought incognito from the brand’s London store by one of the King’s members from his inner circle. King Charles also wore this watch at Prince Harry’s wedding.
Patek Philippe Calatrava Disco Volante
Another significant favourite from the King’s collection is the Patek Philippe Calatrava Disco Volante. This 35mm yellow gold watch has three hands with small seconds hand at 6 o’clock.
