Belgian brand Ressence's quest to create something cutting-edge has led them to collaborate with UAE's leading retailer of luxury watches and jewellery Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons to present the Ressence Type 1 Slim DX2 timepiece. Limited to 25 pieces and following in the footsteps of the Type 1 Squared DXB, the new watch draws inspiration from Arabic geometric patterns. The Type 1 Slim DX2's dial is sand colour, the same as the Type 1 Squared DXB, apart from being meticulously engraved.
The Type 1 Slim DX2 finds its home inside a polished Grade 5 titanium case that offers a water resistance of around 10 metres. Ticking inside the 41mm case, which also features a double domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, is tRessence's patented ROCS 1 - Ressence Orbital Convex System - movement, best known for its smooth winding, accurate timekeeping, and thinness. The ROCS movement ticks at 28,800 vibrations per hour and features caseback winding and time setting via a lever. This package offers a power reserve of around 36 hours.

On its dial is a play of nine components that have been finished in sand colour PVD. For a subtle contrast are its hands and indexes in white, filled with Super-LumiNova. The 25 numbered pieces are offered on two strap options - tan-coloured grained calf strap and olive-green rubber strap that both come with a polished Grade 5 titanium buckle.
The partnership
The Type 1 Slim DX2 timepiece honours a successful partnership between Ressence and Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. The timepiece celebrates the 50th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates. "We are extremely honoured to collaborate with Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons on this very unique project. They have pioneered in promoting independent brands in their region and I see this new piece as a thank you for all their efforts," says Benoît Mintiens, industrial designer and founder of Ressence.
