The origin and the name of the new Longines Spirit Zulu Time comes from the first-ever dual time zone Longines wristwatch, manufactured in 1925, which had a Zulu flag on its dial. 'Zulu' refers to the letter ‘Z’ which symbolises the universal time for aviators and the members of the armed forces.
Taking into account the vintage aesthetics of the Spirit Zulu Time 2022 collection, the brand has re-interpreted the timepiece in a stainless steel 39mm case. Besides reducing the case size, the new model is enhanced via altering the dimensions: Lug to lug (21mm) and case thickness (13.50mm) for ergonomics.
Longines welcomes the newly created models in four iterations: The matte black dial, the sandblasted anthracite dial, the sunray blue dial, and one with the stainless steel case and 18K yellow gold with anthracite sandblasted dial. The new Spirit Zulu Time features a date window at 6 o’clock, SuperLumiNova coated hands and Arabic numerals as hour markers, and a GMT track. The timepiece with gold is the highlight of the collection, having its ratcheted bi-directional bezel and crown crafted with 18K yellow gold, and chocolate brown ceramic insert with a glit GMT track.
The new watches are available with interchangeable stainless steel bracelet, brown coloured NATO strap, and brown leather strap with contrasting cream stitching. The watch is added with two additional components made with anti-magnetic material, making the watch resistant to magnetism, according to the ISO764 standard. Also, the timepiece is COSC certified, and has five stars stamped on the dial, ensuring that the movement is accurate. Further, the 39 mm Longines Spirit Zulu Time is powered by the exclusive Longines calibre L844.4 with a silicon balance spring, offering about 72 hour power reserve and is water resistant up to 100m.
