Besides being into watchmaking, Angelus is also into manufacturing first-rate chronographs from the 1940s. Paying homage to its historical roots, today, the brand incorporates large and visible counters to its dial to ensure optimal readability. The Chronodate collection, launched in 2022, occurred in several dial colours from black, fern green, navy blue and opaline white and now extending the family, is a grey and blue shade. The novelty is a bicompax chronograph with a pointer date, and pays homage to the brand’s Chronodate model from 1942.
The 42.5mm Chronodate Titanium Storm Blue Edition features a satin-finished titanium case and Angelus bracelet. The open-worked cradle design of the timepiece brings the lugs and the case middle in line. The bezel is marked with twelve notches to give a sporty look to the watch.
Its storm blue dial is given its colour with fine matte powdered effect, and features contrasting metallic black snailed chronograph counters and luminescent appliqué hour-markers. The minutes counter lies at 3 o’clock and to its opposite is the small seconds at 9 o’clock. The hour markers and the central hour and minute hands are applied with Super-LumiNova®, and the date pointer with a red arrow points to the date track lying at the periphery of the dial.
Referring to the multi-structure case of the Chronodate, the container housing the brand’s in-house automatic A-500 movement, as well as the chronograph push-pieces, is made with robust yet lightweight carbon-fibre composite. The oscillating weight in the shape of ‘A’ looks like a bell, that the brand introduced initially.
The price of the watch with a titanium bracelet and an additional rubber strap is approx. ₹23,25,000. Alone with the rubber strap, it costs approx. ₹21,38,000. The water resistance is up to 30 metres.
