Garmin’s Fenix 8 series is now in India

Launched in the country today by model, actor and fitness enthusiast Milind Soman, the smartwatch comes packed with exhaustive health- and fitness-related features
Globally popular for its high-quality GPS, fitness, durability, and detailed workout stats, Garmin is again creating a buzz with its latest release, the Fenix 8 series. The watch, after receiving an overwhelming response from the global market, has now been launched in India. Along with it, the brand has also announced the release of a personalised application for coaches and athletes.

Topped with a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, the watches feature a titanium bezel, and now come with a new sensor guard that protects essential sensors and leak-proof buttons. The brand says that the watch has been tested to military standards for thermal, shock, and water resistance. Available in two display options - a vibrant AMOLED, which runs up to 29 days, and  a solar-charging verison, which has a battery life of up to 48 days - the watch is integrated with several features suitable for athletes, and fitness and adventurous enthusiasts.

The highlight of the watch though is its fitness and health features that gear both the newbie fitness enthusiast and hardcore exercise junkie to exhaustively track his /her performance. There is advanced strength training plans for sport-specific workout activity trackers, advanced mapping with TopoActive maps with relief shading and built-in maps for golf courses and ski resorts worldwide, dynamic round trip routing to help wearers set how far they want to go and for guiding them back on time, dive capability with a 40-meter dive rating and leak proof buttons; and ski difficulty tracking to let the user know how much time they are spending on different difficulties throughout the day.

There is a ‘Garmin share’ to easily share saved locations, courses, and workouts with friends, and the Garmin messenger app to help wearers communicate directly via their smartwatch. Other new features of the latest multisport GPS watch include a built-in speaker and mic for voice commands and phone calls.

Along with these, the watch is packed with a built-in LED flashlight, 24/7 health and wellness tracking, which includes wrist-based heart rate, advanced sleep monitoring, respiration tracking, pulse, and more, music, connect IQ store for adding and changing watch face and data field, endurance score, body’s energy level tracker, and many more.

The Fenix 8 Series is offered in three sizes - 43mm, 47mm, and 51mm. While all come in the AMOLED version, the solar-charging models are available only in the 47mm and 51mm variants. The watch is priced Rs. 86,990 onwards.
