Vacheron Constantin’s iconic Overseas collection is now strengthened by two new Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thin models, introduced in a new design originally presented by the brand in 2016. These watches come with three interchangeable straps. The two versions include a rose gold model with a matching rose gold dial, and a white gold model featuring a burgundy lacquer dial.
Haute Horlogerie in a sporty guise
Vacheron Constantin Overseas Perpetual Calendar Ultra-thinBoth models feature a 41.5-millimetre case measuring just 8.1 millimetres in diameter and a thickness of just 8.1 millimetres. They are complemented by 18-karat gold bracelets and two additional rubber straps in different colours. With its striking design inspired by the Maltese cross, this collection, which is all about travel, combines sporty elements with casual elegance. Added to this are two haute horlogerie disciplines that the Geneva-based brand has mastered: the art of realising complex mechanics in an astonishingly flat microcosm and the expertise of accurately reproducing all calendar displays up to the year 2100 and presenting them in a clear format.
Two elegant colours
The rose gold model is framed by a blue minute track – a subtle accent amidst the tone-on-tone aesthetic of the case, bracelet, satin-finished sunray dial, and rose gold moon phase display. For a sporty, casual look, the bracelet can be swapped for textured rubber straps in white or blue. The white gold model, with its cool case tone, offers an attractive contrast to the burgundy lacquered dial and colour-coordinated moon disc. White numerals and indices add further contrast. Depending on your mood, the 18-karat white gold bracelet can be swapped for burgundy or white rubber straps to match either the dial's nuances or the case and numerals.
A masterpiece of miniaturisation
The calibre 1120 QP/1 controls all functions of the perpetual calendar: day of the week, date, month, and leap year via a 48-month counter, as well as the moon phase. It beats at a frequency of 19,800 vibrations per hour and offers a power reserve of 40 hours. This automatic manufacture calibre combines 276 components and has a thickness of just 4.05 millimetres. A soft iron inner ring protects it from the influence of magnetic fields. The 22-carat gold oscillating weight is visible through the transparent sapphire crystal case back. This is decorated with a compass rose, symbolising the Overseas spirit of discovery. Furthermore, the elaborate Haute Horlogerie finishes can be admired: Geneva stripes, straight grain, chamfering, and perlage impressively showcase the delicate light reflection of the movement.
Both models are water-resistant to 50 meters bars and bear the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva. This is the oldest seal of quality in watchmaking. Also called the Geneva Seal or Poinçon de Genève, it has been awarded exclusively to brands based in the canton of Geneva since its introduction in 1886. The price for each is Rs. 1,35,60,000 (approx.)
