WatchTime India and No Hype Horology introduce their first-ever India edition timepiece, with French microbrand Baltic

The Baltic MR INDIA personifies the spirit of the contemporary Indian watch collector
WatchTime India and e-commerce retail platform No Hype Horology have joined hands to launch their very first India-edition watch, the Baltic MR INDIA. Unveiled on Independence Day 2026, the watch captures the essence of India’s new-gen watch collector.

The highlight of the watch is its Devanagari numerals

The Baltic MR INDIA, built on the canvas of Baltic's popular MR Roulette, is a 36 mm 316L stainless steel watch (44 mm lug to lug), limited to 50 pieces. The standout feature of the watch are the hour and minute numerals in Devanagari script that are arranged in a sector dial format that specifically mimics the design of a roulette wheel. In an ivory hue, the numerals rest against a slate grey dial, seen for the first time in a Baltic watch. What also makes this India edition unique is that it can be personalised with initials that can be engraved on the edge of the caseback. Furthermore, buyers have the option to choose from three different Italian leather straps - Stitched Lion (tan), Stitched Light Grey, and Saffiano Black.

The Baltic MR INDIA marks the first time that an Indian watch publication has collaborated with an international watch brand. It is in keeping with this that the timepiece has been developed as a versatile design that features not just Indian elements, but can also be personalised.

In essence, the Baltic MR INDIA is a classic dress watch that can easily transition from a formal ensemble to more informal attire. It features a vertically brushed bezel and horizontally brushed sides, while the top of the lugs are circular brushed. The interplay of textures continues on the dial where the central section is grained, and the hour and minute sectors are brushed. The off-centre small seconds sub-counter, in contrast, is snailed. Time is displayed by faceted, polished, central hands, all topped by a high domed hesalite crystal. All watches are engraved with 'Edition of 50' on the back, and on 35 pieces, between the top lugs, on the side of the case, rests the discreet inscription 'WatchTime India'.

The design of this limited edition piece has been led by the founder of No Hype Horology, Sarat Bhogavalli. A life-long watch enthusiast and leading collector in the country, Bhogavalli has previously also been involved in the creation of a limited edition Nomos Glashütte for the collector group J9, which he is a part of. He launched No Hype Horology last year (read the story here) with the intention to introduce more independent and microbrands to a fast-growing and luxury-watch-curious Indian audience. “Baltic is a brand that is very close to my heart, and I was introduced to it by a fellow collector who was an early customer and I loved how well all their designs were executed,” says Bhogavalli. “While I love almost all the watches in the Baltic catalogue, the MR Roulette case and dial happen to be a favourite. The case is perfectly proportioned, and its longer lugs and sector dial create a great aesthetic, making it wearable for both men and women. Its beautiful micro-rotor movement, visible through the caseback, is hard to find anywhere else at this price point.

The 36 mm watch features a grey dial, a first in the Baltic lineup

“The Devanagari dial was an obvious choice, but given that Baltic hasn’t done one previously, I wanted to create one for Indian collectors. A slate grey dial doesn’t exist in their catalogue either (I truly believe the most boring colours are the ones that age gracefully) and chose to do the numerals in ivory to add a bit of detail. The strap choices also essentially play on the same colours, giving the watch a monotone appearance. I, for one, am truly excited and looking forward to wearing my MR INDIA for life.”

The Baltic MR INDIA is powered by the beautifully decorated Hangzhou automatic CAL5000a micro-rotor movement with an autonomy of 42 hours. Visible via the transparent caseback, the micro-rotor ensures that the watch retains an ultra-thin and elegant profile of 9.9 mm (8 mm without glass). Water resistant to 30 metres, the watch comes with a 2-year warranty from date of shipment as all Baltic watches do that will be handled by No Hype Horology.
