For Geneva Watch Week 2026, Jacob & Co. turned one of its most iconic watches, Godfather, into a musical melody. Developed for over three years, the new Godfather II is the brand’s only double melody musical timepiece—the watch will play music from the movie Godfather. It is a limited edition of 74-pieces, a nod to the year of release of the Godfather II movie.
Jacob & Co. The Godfather II: Two Melodies, One Caliber
Jacob & Co. expands its Godfather collection with a technical premiere: The JCAM62 caliber allows, for the first time, a selection of two melodies within a single music box barrel. A tiny lateral shift of less than one millimeter, controlled by a selector at 10 o'clock, determines which of the 18 steel teeth the comb strikes. While melody selection is not entirely new in watchmaking, its combination with a flying one-minute tourbillon within a wearable 42 x 44 mm case is.
For film fans and watch lovers
Anyone who arrived in the USA from Uzbekistan in 1979 at the age of 14, without language skills or money, had other concerns than haute horlogerie. It took Jacob Arabo two years before he could even afford to go to the cinema. The first film he ever saw on a screen: The Godfather. Since then, he has consistently cast this obsession in metal, first with the Opera Godfather 2019, then with several iterations, and now with the Godfather II. This is personal history in 510 components.
What has changed: The case has shrunk from 49 to 42 x 44 mm , while the mechanism has grown. And for the first time, a Jacob & Co. watch plays two melodies. The JCAM62 caliber allows the wearer to choose between The Godfather Love Theme and The Godfather's Waltz via a selector at 10 o'clock. A lateral displacement of less than one millimeter determines which pins of the brass cylinder strike the 18 steel teeth of the comb. While the melody selection itself is not a novelty in watchmaking, its combination with a flying one-minute tourbillon within a wearable 42 x 44 mm case is.
The real improvement over its predecessor: Instead of the bulky 49 mm format with a 20 mm height, the Godfather II comes in an Art Deco-inspired rectangular case made of 18-karat rose gold, 17 mm high, with a 72-hour power reserve and a separate music box energy indicator. Up to ten melodies per winding, each lasting 15 to 20 seconds.
Technical background
The JCAM62 caliber comprises 510 components and operates at 21,600 vibrations per hour. Two separate power sources, one for the gear train and one for the music box, form the basis of its energy management. The principle of a double power reserve is familiar from striking clocks; applying it to a musical complication is logical, since music boxes consume more energy than a classic minute repeater. The music box system follows the proven comb-cylinder principle: A pin-studded brass cylinder activates the teeth of the comb sequentially. The innovation lies in the miniaturization and the double coding on a single cylinder. In its predecessor, the entire movement rotated 120 degrees during playback, and a crank served as the winding mechanism. Both of these features have been eliminated in the Godfather II in favor of a more compact design. (Also new: Jacob & Co. reinvents the diamond cut .)
Design and reading
The black lacquered dial features a portrait of Marlon Brando as Don Corleone, along with the characteristic marionette motif in a three-dimensional appliqué. A sapphire disc on the case back reveals the comb; a plate displays the actual score of the Godfather Love Theme. The crown is adorned with spiral grooves, the case back features engraved bullet holes, and Corleone's rose is engraved in relief along the case.
The black alligator leather strap fastens with an 18-karat rose gold folding clasp. Water-resistant to 30 meters. (Also worth reading: Jacob & Co. presents Astronomia Revolution with the world's first four-axis tourbillon )
The Godfather II isn't a technical marvel in the sense of a mechanical world premiere, but it does solve a horological challenge: integrating two complete compositions into a compact case without sacrificing the tourbillon. For Jacob & Co., this watch also represents a positioning decision. For years, the brand has consciously employed a pop-cultural visual language: Astronomia, Opera, Billionaire. The collaboration with Paramount Pictures and the founder's personal narrative lend the collection a brand mythology that doesn't exist in the traditional Geneva market. This has its market.
