For Watches and Wonders this year A. Lange & Söhne has
built on the legacy of its iconic Lange 1 that released in 1994. Highly admired by watch lovers, Lange 1 changed the brand’s trajectory through its visual and mechanical identity. Now, with the latest Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar ‘Lumen’ (Ref. 720.035FE), it seems like the brand has opened a new chapter in the line.
Lange 1 Tourbillon Perpetual Calendar ‘Lumen’ (Ref. 720.035FE)
Measuring 41.9 mm, the watch is crafted in 950 platinum, with its semi-transparent dial displaying an off-centred hour and minutes dial, which intersects the moonphase subdial that appears luminous for the first time and has a new integrated day/night indication—day is represented via a light sky without stars, while the night is perceived with a dark sky with stars. What is more interesting in this moonphase complication is that its accuracy deviates by only one day after 122.6 years.
Moreover, the watch features an integrated tourbillon with stop seconds, and a leap year indication near the 6 o’clock position. There is a luminous outsized date at 10 o’clock, retrograde date of the week indication, and the month marked on the flange. Despite being a highly complex timepiece, the watch features a legible dial, also thanks to the luminous displays.
Turn the watch over to see a highly decorated new automatic manufacture calibre L225.1, which is assembled and decorated by hands and boasts a 50-hour power reserve. It features a unidirectional winding central rotor with centrifugal mass in 950 platinum. The watch is a limited edition of 50 pieces and is complemented with a hand-stitched black alligator leather with deployant quick-lock 950 platinum buckle.
