Swatch x Audemars Piguet’s most anticipated Royal Pop is here

After successful collaborations with Omega and Blancpain, Swatch now teams up with Audemars Piguet
A week ago, when Swatch teased a new collaboration mentioning Royal PoP, the internet exploded — was there going to be a Royal Oak in Swatch’s pop colours? After the reveal this morning, the answer is in front of all of us, as surprising as it was. These are not wristwatches, like Swatch has done with Omega and Blancpain. The new Audemars Piguet x Swatch collaboration brings eight new colourful Royal Pop pocket watches in Swatch’s proprietary material, Bioceramic.

The new collection takes an inspiration from the iconic Royal Oak collection, launched in1972, and Swatch’s POP watches of the 1980s. The collaboration released specifically eight watches to pay tribute to Audemars Piguet’s iconic eight sided case, eight screws on it, and the Royal Pop also has 8 additional patents for the case construction.

While six of them are a Lépine-style pocket watch, with the crown at 12 o’clock, and featuring usual hour and minute hands. There are two Savonnette-style pocket watches with the winding crown at 3 o’clock—these also feature small seconds subdials at their 6 o’clock position.

The watches feature bioceramic cases in Audemars Piguet’s iconic octagonal silhouette, the dials also draw inspiration from Royal’s Oak’s distinctive dial pattern ‘Petite Tapisserie’. There’s also an AP X Swatch logo on the dial at 12 and Royal Pop mentioned at 6 o’clock.

Turn the watch over  and you’ll see a vibrant caseback with partial view to the new manual winding Calibre SISTEM51 boasting a 90 hour power reserve. The movement includes 15 active patents and anti-magnetic Nivachron™ balance spring, developed in collaboration with Audemars Piguet. Attached with a high-quality calfskin lanyard, the brand has given watch lovers the choice to to use it in more than just one way as a pocket watch—people can wear it around the neck as a pendant, wrap it around the wrist, hang it in a bag as a charm, or keep it a table clock.

All the variants will be exclusively available at Swatch Store worldwide on May 16 and will be sold as only one watch per person, per day.
