Rock legend Brain May and his very popular “Red Special” guitar have shared a partnership that helped make Queen one of the world's most admired and celebrated rock brands. Another instrument that May has relied on for years is the his Seiko diver's watch that has not left his wrist for more than 40 years. He got his first Seiko watch when he was on tour in Japan during the 1970s. Since then, his guitar and his watch have not left his side. They have travelled the globe together creating memories and music that will last a lifetime.
Keeping this backstory in mind, it comes as no surprise that the “Red Special” guitar has inspired the new Seiko 5 Sports watch. It features design aesthetics that echoes the design of the guitar which Brian and his father built in the early 1960s. Hand-crafted from top to bottom, the Red Special is a labour of love that has been with Brian for over half a century.
The new Seiko 5 Sports watch also features the spirit of the guitar with a bright red and black dial (same as the guitar) decorated with a delicate wood-like pattern that resembles the body of the guitar. The watch also features a robust stainless steel case with a long-trusted calibre 4R36 beating at the centre. The Seiko 5 Sports Brian May Limited Edition watch also houses Brian's signature on the caseback and is available in a black nylon strap that mirrors the design of the guitar strap used by Brian himself on the Red Special.
Limited to just 9,000 pieces, the Seiko 5 Sports Brian May Limited Edition is priced at approximately INR 44,000.
