Swatch and Omega's MoonSwatch collaboration captures attention with every release, and their latest, the Mission to Earthphase - Moonshine Gold (Ref. SO33N701L), is no exception. However, this time, the spotlight is on the watch’s moonphase indicator, whose two radiant full moons are coated with OMEGA’s signature Moonshine™ Gold. Read about MoonSwatch 1965 (Ref. The Earth as seen from the Moon
Mission to Earthphase - Moonshine Gold (Ref. SO33N701L)The combination of a deep, exclusively developed navy blue and the innovative complication of the earth phase display gives this watch an almost meditative gravitas. The great innovation of this model lies in the Earthphase window at 10 o'clock – a poetic inversion of the classic moon phase. As you look at the Earth from the moon, the displayed phase follows its rhythm: a mirror image of the moon phase and counterclockwise. A play on perspectives reminiscent of retrograde complications in haute horlogerie – but here interpreted in an accessible, imaginative way. At the centre of this microcosm: Snoopy. The famous beagle sits on the lunar surface with his companion Woodstock, observing the Earth, framed by a sky studded with stars. Inscription visible under UV light accompanies the scene – a secret salute to the creative vision that once brought the first watch to the moon.
Gold dust in orbit
What makes the Mission to Earthphase – Moonshine Gold particularly radiant is the craftsmanship of Omega's Moonshine Gold. Two full moons adorn the glittering moonphase disc at two o'clock – one featuring Snoopy's playful face, the other a pattern reminiscent of a fishing net. A subtle reference to the Sturgeon Moon, which in popular culture is associated with summer and the August full moon. Moonshine Gold – an alloy specially developed by Omega – brings a warm glow to the watch, lending it a charm that transcends its price range.
The gold elements shine against the dark background tone, creating targeted highlights without being obtrusive. As usual, the case, crown, pushers, and bezel are made of Swatch's patented Bioceramic – a high-tech composite made of two-thirds ceramic and one-third bio-based material derived from castor oil. In this model, with a diameter of 42 mm and a thickness of 13.75 mm, the material presents itself in a rich, midnight blue hue that evokes the depths of the cosmos. The case and the recessed subdial reference the DNA of the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch and bring a familiar, almost nostalgic touch to the watch. The dial itself is opaline white, with fluorescent hour markers and hands that glow green in the dark thanks to Grade A Superluminova. The tachymeter scale on the bezel and the discreet engraving of the Swatch "S" in the domed crystal testify to the company's attention to detail.
Another detail is hidden on the back: the battery cover features an Earth-inspired relief design that blends harmoniously into the overall cosmic concept. The navy blue rubber Velcro strap completes the look.
Limited landing on Earth
