Police celebrates return of Batman with a limited edition collection

With the much anticipated Batman movie just a few hours from its release, Police has released a 10,000 piece limited edition Batman collection, which highlights features from the movie.

With the release of the new Batman movie around the corner, watchmakers have been creating designs that fans of the caped crusader would find of interest. First came Kross Studio's offering, and now Police has released a 10,000-piece limited edition watch dedicated to the Batman flick starring Robert Pattinson; of these, only 470 pieces will be available in India.

The three models in the collection represent several elements of the Batman movie, right from the Batman being Bruce Wayne’s alter ego, to the crime-ridden Gotham city that many villains wish to destroy. The first of these is The Batman Watch, which with its two-part case construction, represents the dual identities of the protagonist. Each part features an independent timezone functionality, with the Bat Symbol / movie art featuring on the lower part of the watch becoming integral to the reading of time in the second timezone. Here, time is read off two concentric rotating discs for hours and minutes, with the symbol marking the reading of minutes. The timekeeping functioning for each timezone can be set via individual cylindrical crowns that rest in the central part of the case. Powered by a quartz movement, the watch features a leather strap, and is water-resistant to 50 metres.  The casebacks of all three watches get the Police and The Batman logo.

The Batman Gotham City Edition comes with a black dial and honeycomb texture, stainless steel case, faceted hour markers, and Police logo at 12 o’clock. The watch has a backlight feature, which, at the push of a button, lights up the Batman logo that is spread across the dial, much like the Bat-signal. The watch comes together on a black silicon strap with a buckle lock system also getting the Batman logo engraving.

The Batman Vengeance Edition Watch gets a multifunction dial, with the Batman logo at 9 o’ clock, six visible screws on the bezel, and three different timezones. The first timezone is placed at 3 o’clock, the second timezone at 10 o’clock, and the third at 7 o’clock. The first timezone also gets the Batman emblem with hour, minute, and seconds hands set inside a recessed dial. In the other two timezones, time can be read off rotating discs, with a Bat-like design aesthetically joining both the dial. Time-setting is via individual crowns for each timezone. The 49m timepiece gets a stainless steel case and a black dial. The watch gets completed in a stainless steel bracelet with a push-button clasp system, and is water-resistant to 50 metres.
