Which watch did cricketer Angelo Mathews get on completing his 100th test match?

The Sri Lankan all-rounder was gifted a cap, plaque, and Swiss watch to commemorate his 100th Test milestone.
All-rounder Angelo Mathews has become the sixth Sri Lankan player to play his 100th test match. The 35-year-old player was felicitated by Sri Lanka Cricket at the start of the 2nd Test against Pakistan in Galle. As part of the this felicitation, Mathews was gifted a commemorative cap, plaque, and an Omega Constellation (Ref, to mark the occasion.

The 41mm stainless steel watch features a two-tone polished black ceramic bezel, which flaunts Roman numerals in Liquidmetal. The textured grey dial gets bar-shaped hour markers, a date window at 6 o’clock, while the dauphine hands, Omega logo, and the Constellation star, and faceted indexes are blackened. The self-winding watch is powered by Omega Calibre 8900 movement with a co-axial escapement, 60 hours of power reserve. This movement is visible through the domed scratch-resistant sapphire crystal caseback, and the watch is water-resistant to 50 metres.

The Constellation collection has been one of the most sought-after from the watchmaker and first saw light in 1950s as a precision chronometer. This collection is renowned for its classic, elegant style, not the least of which is an integrated bracelet, an update that first came to be in the 1980s. For the year 2022, Omega brought new colours and two-tone options for this watch. Further advancements in the watch that came to be included a Master Chronometer certification, anti-magnetic property, and a five-year warranty.

Mathews is an all-rounder who made his debut over a decade ago against Pakistan at the same venue. He is one of the leading Sri Lankan figures in all three formats.

Recently, in a candid social media interaction, Indian cricket Shubham Gill revealed that former Indian captain Virat Kohli gifted him a brand new Rolex. Manchester City star Sergio Aguero has gone his way to gift a Hublot and a TAG Heuer watch to all his teammates. Recently when Erling Haaland moved to Manchester City, he gifted customised Rolexes to all his teammates and coaches. But it doesn’t end here, Halland even gave 20 Omega watches to his entire back room staff.
