IWC Schaffhausen has introduced additions to their Mark series: Pilot’s Watch Mark XX. The brand celebrates the 75th anniversary of its Mark series, and took to the Mark 11 to create two new versions of the first timepiece of the collection made exclusively for the British Royal Air Force in 1948. It was the navigator’s wristwatch - Mk. 11 – Stores Ref. 6B/346. Most modern pilot watches are designed on the lines of Mark 11, taking inspiration from its technical and instrumental designs.
The parent timepiece had a soft-iron inner case to protect it from magnetic fields and a high-contrast dial with luminescence. This functional design for an easy-to-read cockpit instrument remains a signature feature of IWC Pilot’s Watches. The timepiece was powered by Calibre 89. Mark 11 has continuously gone through upgrades all through the 70 years of its release contributing to creating interference-free wristwatches that offered higher accuracy.
