Audemars Piguet launched four new Royal Oak Offshore chronographs in 37mm earlier this month on the occasion of 30th anniversary of the Offshore line. But that doesn’t mean that it is ignoring the OG ROs. Now, unveiled in a smaller size of 34mm is a new white ceramic Royal Oak Automatic.
The pure white piece is set with accents of rose gold details - on screws, hands and hour markers as well as on the caseback and on the oscillating weight. Eight hexagonal screws, specially crafted from 18K rose gold, securely fix the bezel to the case and frame the silver-plated dial.
The dial adopts the Royal Oak's 50th anniversary updated design with Grande Tapisserie motif. The sophistication with which the white ceramic was created is remarkable: According to the watch manufacturer, white ceramic is inherently harder than black ceramic, so watchmakers had to carry out some machining operations to create the right structure. Another special visual feature: The folding clasp is black thanks to a DLC treatment, creating a striking contrast.
The sapphire crystal back, revealing a 22K rose gold oscillating weight, is highlighted by a rose gold rim. The self-winding caliber 5800 (Vaucher VMF 3002) was specially designed for the 2020 Royal Oak 34mm collection. It has a power reserve of 50 hours and is water resistant to a depth of 50 meters. The movement has the following finishes: Côtes de Genève, Perlage, Satin and Sunburst. The model is available as a boutique edition for 51,900 euros exclusively in AP Houses and Audemars Piguet boutiques.
