Furlan Marri has revived its vintage Disco Volante, a popular model from the late 1930s to 1980s. In recent years, the brand has made headlines on creating timepieces inspired by its vintage designs. The new Disco Volante features the design aesthetics of the vintage model which includes a sleek round case and hidden lugs. The crown is integrated into the 316L stainless steel case band and case size is new at 38mm, and it is presented in three colour variations on the two-toned dial - Havana (salmon and brown), Verde (green and cream), and Celeste (blue and white).
The dial features a four-part, semi-sector design with Arabic numerals and double-printed and applied hour markers at 12,3, and 9 o’clock. The small seconds are placed at 6 o’clock, and minutes track with five-minute intervals encircles the dial at the periphery. The hands and rings around the dial sectors and sundial are coated with ‘Old Radium’ or ‘BGW9’ LumiNova inserts.
Driving the watch is the ultra-thin manual-wound Peseux 7001 movement, which is visible through the caseback, and offers a power reserve of about 42 hours. The bridges are hand-finished with diamond-polished edges. The crown wheel and screws are back-polished and chamfered. The entire beveling of the movement is hand-done under the supervision of Furlan Marri’s technical manager, Sébastien Rousseau, in Geneva.
Water-resistant up to 50 metres, each of the three watches come flanked with two vegetable-tanned Italian curved leather straps coloured in relevance with the shade of the dial.
Priced at ₹2,32,000 (approx.), the watch will be produced in one batch this year, with future production dependent on demand and movement availability.
