To commemorate its 150th anniversary, Audemars Piguet has brought forth a slew of releases across its Royal Oak and Code 11.59 lines. There are two new Royal Oak Offshore Selfwinding Chronographs in ceramic, a Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar Openworked “150th Anniversary” limited edition, and two self-winding perpetual calendars. In Code 11.59, there are nine new watches including a perpetual calendar, five Grande Sonnerie Carillon Supersonneries, two new Code 11.59 in stainless steel, and a flying tourbillon.
Royal Oak Selfwinding Perpetual CalendarWhat’s leading the grand releases is a new Caliber 7138 perpetual calendar movement, featured in the three newly introduced perpetual calendars. The brand is calling it the all-in-one crown movement, as it can entirely be set via the crown, eliminating the use of a stylus and pusher. The presence of new calibre enables the brand to enhance the case design and also lets the user adjust complications without the hassle of finding an external tool and risking scratches on the case. The Calibre 7138 is built on the brand’s patented innovation launched in 2018. The 4.1mm thin movement has all perpetual calendar functions in one single layer.
Code 11.59 Perpetual Calendar“Calibre 7138 represents a major innovation in the design of perpetual calendars. By placing ergonomics at the heart of our research and development, we have created a unique correction mechanism that allows all adjustments to be made via the crown. In addition to making this high complication easy to use, we also worked on the overall aesthetics to combine high legibility with timeless refinement,” says Lucas Raggi, Research and Development Director, Audemars Piguet.
Grande Sonnerie Carillon SupersonnerieThe Supersonnerie models are equipped with the hand-wound Calibre 2956, with the patented Supersonnerie technology launched in the Royal Oak Concept collection (RD#1) in 2015, while the flying tourbillon version has a Calibre 2968 beating inside. The watches appear in either stainless steel, 18K white gold, pink gold, ceramic, or the brand’s patented sand gold.
