The independent watchmaking workshop, Artisans De Genève, is popularly known for handcrafting, transforming, customising timepieces, and providing restoration services. The watchmaking workshop has done extreme overhauls and tailored timepieces for the likes of John McEnroe, Spike Lee, and Lenny Kravitz. This time, the Rolex Submariner 116610 of someone called Mr. ISL, has been reworked, to create what Artisans De Genève calls Brown Ice.
Artisans De Genève customised Rolex SubmarinerThe
atelier has paired rich brown tones with icy blue for the Rolex Submariner - an unusual colour combination, but something that clearly has a personal meaning for its client. The inspiration came from deep lakes, sparkling chrome and the polished mahogany of runabout boats. The Rolex SA Caliber 3135 movement was skeletonized and decorated by hand. Accents of blue PVD coating and brown ceramic complete the ‘Brown Ice’ transformation of the watch.
Furthermore, the Dauphine hands are hand-cut and diamond-cut and are blued to match the watch's colours. The second hand is stamped and bevelled. The watch is water resistant to 300 meters. This new, skeletonized design is intended to underline the contrasts of the source of inspiration: shallow and deep, cold and warm.
“The ice-blue, skeletonized dial with blued indexes, the sapphire crystal date disc and the translucent sapphire case, which reveals the blued rotor, create an impressive interplay of light and layers,” states Artisans De Genève.
This is not the first watch that Artisans De Genève has customised for Mr ISL. "Personalization after personalization, Artisans de Genève keeps on seamlessly infusing my personality and inspirations into my watch designs. Brown Ice reflects my connection to water and the feeling of absolute freedom, similar to navigating open waters. Through its skeletonized design, it asserts contrasts: light and depth, cold and warmth." says Mr ISL.
The cost of the customisation was CHF 38,520 (Euros 40,800 approx. or Rs. 37,10,000 approx.). This does not include the Rolex Submariner itself.
