Favre Leuba introduces its first skeletonized watch, the Chief Skeleton

The open-worked movement comes encased in two variations – gold and DLC-coated black steel case
After introducing its first tourbillon – the Chief Tourbillon watch – earlier this year, the recently resuscitated Favre Leuba is strengthening its portfolio with a skeletonised watch, the first in its 288-year history. Following the design cues of the Chief line – cushion-shaped case, 40 mm - the highlight of the watch is the openworked manufacture movement developed in collaboration with AMT manufacture.

FLS01  Calibre

The watch is offered in two variations—one with a gold-finished movement paired with a brushed and polished steel case, and another with an anthracite-finished movement housed in a DLC-coated black steel case. The case is topped with a curved sapphire crystal providing a clear view of the openworked mechanism from every angle.

At the heart of the Chief Skeleton lies a custom-designed movement, FLS01 (in the gold-finished movement) and FLS02 (in the anthracite-finished movement), that highlights its layered construction with the help of multiple textures and finishes. Techniques such as snailing, which creates delicate spiral patterns, complement satin and sandblasted surfaces to build a sense of visual drama. The semi-exposed mainspring barrel sits at 12 o’clock, while the balance wheel sits at 6 o’clock beneath a horizontally brushed bridge – a Favre Leuba hallmark. The movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and delivers a 41-hour power reserve. Completing the display is a skeletonized rotor, engraved with the Favre Leuba wordmark and given a satin finish. In the anthracite version, the rotor is coated with a matching DLC treatment.

The watches offer a pop of colour on the minute tracks

Offering a pop of colour, the steel case with gold-finished movement is complemented by green, blue, or black minute tracks and corresponding FKM rubber straps; The black DLC case with anthracite-finished movement is paired with green, blue, black, or ice-blue minute tracks. Thanks to an integrated quick-change system, wearers can effortlessly switch between strap and bracelet, allowing the watch to adapt easily from casual to formal settings. There are applied rhodium-plated indexes, hour and minute hands with polished finish and filled with Super-LumiNova® C1 X1 with blue emission. With a screw-down crown at 3’clock it offers a water resistance of 100 metres.
