For several years now, a number of watch brands have been dedicating special editions, mostly limited, to the lunar year, showcasing meticulous detail and captivating creativity. According to the ancient Chinese zodiac's 12-year animal cycle, 2026 is the year of the horse, dedicated to which is the new Swatch’s Riding the Clouds (Ref. SUOZ369), reminiscing Chinese art and culture.
Earlier brands like Jaeger-LeCoultre kicked things off with the Reverso Tribute Enamel "Horse" in September 2025, followed by IWC's Portugieser 42 Year of the Horse, and recently Longines’s Master Collection Year of the Horse Edition. In the coming weeks, we can expect more exciting special editions themed around the horse, enriching the world of watches with their dynamism and symbolic power.
Featuring two galloping horses, flames and clouds, luminous hands and a transparent case, the new Riding the Clouds by Swatch is a powerful statement for energy and new beginnings in 2026.
The watch pays tribute to the powerful theme with expressive colors and meticulous attention to detail. The watch was designed in collaboration with Yu Wenjie, an artist associated with the Swatch Art Peace Hotel. The dial and matte-transparent case feature a richly detailed, multicolored print of two horses, one black and one white, embodying yin and yang. The horses move dynamically against the backdrop of white clouds and flames to reflect luck and prosperity.
The 41-millimeter case, made of transparent polymer, has a light and modern look. At 9.85 millimeters thick, the Riding the Clouds is comfortable to wear. In typical Swatch fashion, the design is continued on the silicone strap. The quartz watch is priced at Rs. 9,500 (approx.)
