Since its inception in 1980 Hublot has always been known for its ‘Art of Fusion’ philosophy integrating unique materials into watchmaking. The new Classic Fusion Yohji Yamamoto All Black Camo (Ref. 542.CI.6670.NR.YOY) combines Hublot’s all black concept introduced in 2006 as part of its Big Bang collection in partnership with a legendary Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto who is known for tailoring black silhouettes.
Black silhouettes became revolutionary since Yamamoto presented the collection in Paris in 1981. While for Hublot, black was integrated in its innovative materials like matte ceramics and smoked sapphire. The latest collaborative all-black timepiece reflects the spirits of both.
“Black reveals what truly matters, it purifies form, letting silhouette and texture speak. Black is modest and arrogant at the same time” says Yohji Yamamoto, while Julien Tornare, CEO of Hublot says “At Hublot, we treat black as a living material, sculpted, layered, folded where each surface interacts differently with light. This project marks our very first collaboration on a Classic Fusion model, and together, we share the belief that luxury is not what shines, but what endures”.
Featuring the silhouette of the brand’s popular Classic Fusion line, the watch is encased in 42 mm microblasted black ceramic, which absorbs light. The dial is also black displaying camouflage patterns and subtly changing with the movement of the wrist. It’s a time and date watch with a central hour, minute, seconds, and a black date window at 3 o’clock. At 6 o’clock, there’s Yamamoto’s signature.
Turn the watch and you’ll see the brand’s automatic movement MHUB1110 via the smoked sapphire crystal. The skeletonised rotor features the brand name. The watch has a power reserve of about 48 hours and is water resistant up to 50 metres. Following a monochromatic theme a black fabric or black rubber strap completes the watch. It’s a 300-piece limited edition and is offered in a custom all-black box.
